*two weeks later, on the Southeast border of the gulf*
Sawyer and Astrid walk, parched, famined, tired. Sand infests their shoes and crawls into every inch of their body. Astrid carries her arc tesla in hand, tired enough that her finger is at verge of it going off, and Sawyer stumbles through the sand, a retractable tent in hand.
Sawyer almost collapses, but a sight on the horizon fills him with excitement.
"Freehold is... right there..." Sawyer mumbles, his words slurred, bend over and wheezing.

"I wish I brought my fishing pole....."
-
Sawyer chuckles, before falling face-first into the sand.
-
Astrid pulls out a canteen that is barely filled, she takes a sip before handing the rest to him
-
"Thank you," Sawyer whispers dryly, laying in the sand, and takes a swig of the water with trembling hands. He gets up and stretches before lifting up his bag and the tent and continuing to walk. Eventually they come to near where the main moat is, surrounding the large Red Baron bunker, and to avoid being seen Sawyer crouches behind a dune.
-
"Wow, this place is huge."
-
"It is, isn't it? A whole shipload of Barons in there too. That's why we're gonna get in, get out blow it to the sky. I did some recon while I was waiting for my associate when I was set up; the weak point is the base in the left tower. For a strict, airtight community you would think they would cover up their ventilation systems. Anyways, that's our point of entry..." Sawyer looks up to the sky behind him to the sunset, which makes the fort glisten beautifully. Unfortunately, the cusp of twilight grows, and a foul wind makes Astrids hair flutter in the air. It is the start of a storm... instead of letting it ruin the plan, Sawyer works it to his advantage. "...tomorrow. There'll be a sandstorm, guessing from these winds. The Barons will be disoriented. Besides, we may as well sleep before our big day tomorrow." Sawyer starts to assemble the tent.
-
"Ok, I'll hunt for some lizards and other animals that we could eat."
-
"Good, I'll make a fire inside the tent; the wind would blow it out instantly."
-
"I'll be right back." Astrid goes hunting for food, leaving him alone
-
"BE CAREFUL OF THE WINDS!" Sawyer screams to Astrid.
-
"I WILL!"
-
Sawyer stokes the fire and waits for Astrid, but he falls into a deep sliver from exhaustion instead. He wakes in the morning, a dead lizard, looking smoky and delicious roasting on the fire. "Hello," Sawyer grumbles.
-
"Hello, the food is ready, want some?"
-
Edited by Veration: 9/24/2015 10:59:39 PM"Hell yes. I'm as hungry as a wolf." Sawyer takes the lizard, and pops it in his mouth. He is done eating in about 10 seconds "Could've used some salt and a bit of zest, but we are on enemy lines in a lifeless desert."
Sorry for not responding, I was binging The Wonder Years on Nexflix
-
"Glad you enjoyed that." he notices the tail of a lizard in her mouth and she kicks some blood off her lips
-
"Uhh, I'm not even going to question that. Anyways, the wind is howling like a virgin. Get your stuff on, this is happening."
-
"Ok." she grabs her Tesla rifle and checks the mag
-
"Full?"
-
"Yup, let's go."
-
Sawyer and Astrid snake along the perimeter of the stronghold, feeling refreshed from a good nights sleep. They are in front of the side, where the open ventilation is, and a guard holds ground there. "Shit on a brick! They must of came aware of the opening at night. Do you--" Suddenly the wind picks up. On this trick, luck has been in Sawyer's favor. "Okay, what is about to come out of my mouth may sound like lunacy, but relying on the sandstorm picking up again, we are going to crawl into the vents 2 feet away from this guy."
-
"Sounds easy for me."
-
"Well sorry, I'm not Remnant. I'm stuck in this giant, lumbering, slow body."
-
"It's fine, I wasn't trying to insult you."
-
"You weren't offensive. Just how I act, like an ass. Sarcasm is my first language." "We're not getting any younger. Let's go." Astrid and Sawyer drudge through the sandstorm, thankful for the helmets. "You need to guide me. A hand? I assume a perk of being Night is sand...vision...or, something."
-
"It's fine, I can sense where to go."
