They are Taken Champions that spawn similar to the Wolf Packs that require you to kill them for a quest line.

Is he for a quest line? He doesn't spawn from killing lieutenants. He makes a very loud roar and shows up. If you don't hit him within just a couple of seconds he'll despawn. The champions that spawn from killing the three lieutenants stick around a lot longer than that.

I think he might be connected to a yet discovered exotic quest line. I get that feeling that there are others since his title of "Gauntlet of Oryx" gave me deja vu of "Fist of Crota." This makes me think there may be others like him, hidden through patrols and perhaps killing all of them will unlock a quest. But since they leave if don't hit them in literally 5 seconds it's very hard for me to find them.

Where in the dreadnaught? Does he only spawn in the mission or will he spawn in patrol as well?

He's at the spot where court of oryx is on patrol, spawns with wizards then disappears

It's in the court of oryx area, he comes out when you are dismantling the weapon systems. He is immune to damage though

Just ran into him with a couple of friends. My lvl 40 200 light titan was doing small dmg (actual #'s though not immune), im guessing a fireteam of 280 or so light would slay. Going back tomorrow to try.

I never noticed him during the first mission. I wonder if he can be damaged with a sword.
