There isn't a way to kill them. But that chest can be accessed by a cave with the chest of maggots and waiting in there for a while. Your screen will go green and then you'll get a debuff thing. Run and do the jumpy puzzle to get to that chest in 1:30 and I've heard it can be an exotic chest (it wasn't for me :( )
