Super Mario Maker = Nintendo will stay forever.
What do mean. If Nintendo goes smartphone only you can always make your own Mario games?

Apologies, I should have elaborated. Super Mario Maker just came out for the Wii U, and it is amazing. Nintendo has access to plenty of gaming ideas that can bring audiences back to them, yet they choose to keep them as such; ideas. This tactic will damage Nintendo. However, Nintendo is such a big company. They have many areas that they progress in besides games, such as their "Better Living" sector. Smartphone gaming has not damaged console gaming in the least. If anything, people will play a phone game, and become hungry for better games thereby creating a need for console, or PC gaming. This doesn't mean that Nintendo hasn't been hit hard by the multiplayer community; Xbox, and PlayStation have hindered Nintendo in that regard.

Personally I do not want Nintendo to die but the facts are showing console sales (combined) are on a decline.

PC sales are definitely greater than the console's, and mobile gaming is on the increase. However, gaming companies, such as EA, or Activision Blizzard inc., generate around $4.4 billion annually. The leading mobile gaming company, King Digital (The Candy Crush Saga) only generates $2.3 billion annually. Mobile gaming is only doing well because everyone has a smartphone, but we are starting to move towards wearable technology, such as the Apple watch, or google glass. When everyone has wearable devices instead of smartphones the market for mobile gaming will cease to exist. Augmented Reality, or virtual reality will start to become more popular, so Nintendo will cash in on that market. I give it five years, or so.
