I always enjoy reading your posts, but you confuse your theories as being Total Confirmation Once and For All, and that's not true. There is no confirmation once and for all that Jaren and Dredgen are two different people. I've read your posts, and you contradict things a lot and interpret things to your own slant. Which is fine, but it's not Confirmation. When Shin says "two men entered my world" he could very easily be speaking metaphorically. Why would he refer to Dredgen as Dark if Dredgen was originally noble, when Shin met him? "Same meat. Same bone. But so very different." You pointed out that Dredgen killed 3 people, then reference them as being part of their party later on. Dredgen himself said he didn't know those 3. Just met em. They even called themselves strangers to him, not people he would have been traveling with. This is also after he went Dark. But the fireteam you mentioned, where Jaren's last stand took place, would have been before that. Perhaps the most damning is simply, why did Jaren die? His Ghost was alive. Ghosts rez. That's canon. Jaren's Ghost wasn't destroyed. It found Shin when he was searching for Jaren's body, but there's no mention of a burial. Rather the Ghost spoke to him instead, which it had never done before. But why didn't it simply rez Jaren? Thorn 3 would suggest quite the contradiction to your Confirmation Once and For All. Why the Ghost left. Why it couldn't rez Jaren. Why it had been looking at Shin for days before hand, knowing what was coming ,what was going to occur. If Dredgen was truly a hero, as several cards point out, why don't we know his name? Why doesn't Shin ever mention it? Or Jaren? Why isn't there a single association with him in all these documented historical files? He was a hero that no one knew. A hero that no one remembered. A hero that has no deeds, no accomplishments. A hero without a name? Not much of a hero. Not much of a noble man. Or maybe we already know his name. After all, Dredgen Yor is not a true name. It's a made up name, as the card mentions. We don't know if Jaren and Dredgen are the same. We can theorize. We can discuss. But when you say "CONFIRMED ONCE AND FOR ALL" you're asking us to stop. We shouldn't stop. Because it's NOT confirmed. Because we DON'T know for sure. You can believe they were two different people, but your posts don't prove it. And you shouldn't tell people to stop the discussion, because it's far too interesting, on both sides, to simply say "It's done and over." Because until Bungie says otherwise, it's not over. Not yet.

  • Well said. Tho the story about him bring jaren before he was turned to Yor is a lame one. It's the old I have turned to the dark side.

  • [u.1:0.3] His Light is faded. [u.2:0.3] His Light is gone. That is the interaction between the ghost and Yor. The reason that the ghost couldn't res Ward was because his light was consumed by Thorn much in the same way that Crota's sword consumed the light of guardians.

  • Yet the Crucible allows such a weapon to run rampant? =) Clearly Thorn was a far greater threat than merely being an overpowered meta.

  • GameInformer in conjunction with Bungie said
He starts murdering other guardians as well as innocents. His old friend, Jaren Ward, hunts him down and duels him with the hand cannon called The Last Word, but Jaren is killed. Subsequently, Jaren’s protégé, a Hunter named Shin Malphur, takes up The Last Word, tracks Dredgen Yor, and they fight. Dredgen Yor is apparently killed.
That is literally shown in the Grimoire today.

So the biggest mystery in Destiny is answered in a short, nondescipt interview by someone who has absolutely nothing to actually reveal or add to that or any other subject? Every topic was bland and vanilla and offered absolutely nothing. The Traveler, the Hive and the Moon, Osiris. It could have been written by anyone, because there was absolutely nothing new. Except about Jaren Ward. The biggest mystery in the game and they reveal it casually like it doesn't matter? And you're ok with that? You of all people? Are ok with them taking something and just making it simple and vanilla and unimportant? None of the answers to any subjects revealed anything. Rasputin simply lost and went to sleep? I don't believe that. He said he learned something from the Darkness, but he just went to sleep after shutting down our defenses? Or was there an actual reason why he let the Darkness in, forcing the Traveler to act, preventing her from running as she had in the past? You of all people, who has worked harder than anyone to uncover Destiny's stories, should be furious that they'd make something like that canon. All the work in the grimoire, all the mysteries, all the time Bungie spent creating these clues and puzzles and mysteries, and they're all answered cut and dry like that? Somehow I doubt it. I can accept a game with little actual story inside it. I can accept a game with little content in its previous expansions. I can accept a game where characters disappear and are never heard of again, though I don't even have time to tell you why I don't have time to tell you. But I can't accept that all the work done in all these grimoire cards can be answered so cut and dry, like they mean nothing at all, with no more mysteries or clues. To do so would be to take them away from us. I don't see Bungie saying that it's canon. I just see some guy giving really simple answers to some really complex questions. And we know some of those are more complex then he said. Bungie has gone out of their way to keep the lines blurred. Why throw all that away now?
