Bungie, please add some visual callouts to Vertigo

I'm going to preface to say that I don't hate Vertigo, it's got a very... unique map design involving a lot of sharp elevation changes and some interesting trip jump possibilities. However the map is way too confusing to navigate because there are no easily identifiable landmarks or visual callouts to help players determine their location on the map. There's nothing that stands out in the background skybox to help the player orient themselves, or identifiable decorations within the map to tell players which side of the map they're on. Imagine playing Rift with a Fireteam and trying to tell your teammates where the enemy Spark carrier is, "Oh the Spark is near the metal Vex platform thing..." All the textures on the wall are the same golden Vex plating, with Fallen wiring jury-rigged into the sides, if you aren't played Control then you literally can't tell which side is which. Bungie's map design in Halo knew perfectly how to orient players, even the symmetric maps had color coded bases or things like a crash pelican, or a unique cluster of trees. Even the other Destiny maps have easily identifiable landmark waypoints to help players navigate around the map. Rusted Lands is one of the most imbalanced maps I've seen in an FPS and yet it still has easy to identify callouts like "near the shoreline" or "near the pillar" or "inside the building". I don't know how you'd "fix" Vertigo but the least Bungie could do is throw up so color coded banners on the map, or differentiate the ambient lighting coming out of the corridor walls.

  • Some of these new maps are just to complicated to be enjoyable, there are too many nooks, crannies, tunnels and elevations in them. It's like they just wanted to show off what they could do but a good pvp map should be simple, straight forward and easy to understand. I don't want to run around half of the game wondering where the hell I am, where the hell I am going or where the hell everybody else is.
