Why Dinklage was bad and Nolan is better.

There's no denying that Peter Dinklage is a great actor. But there's also no denying that for the most part his performance in Destiny was lacklustre. While some of his line were amusing and memorable, that's more due to us laughing at him rather than with him. So why was that the case? I think the reason is that Dinklage is a very VISUAL actor. Watch him on Game of Thrones, then try watching some of his scenes with your eyes closed. His voice doesn't actually change that much whether he is sad or angry or happy (except for maybe that amazing trial scene), but his expressions and physicality really sells the performance and the emotion he is trying to convey. That's what makes him so good. Obviously, in Destiny, we didn't have that, since he was just floating sphere with no face or body. Couple that with attempting to sound robotic and some somewhat dubious script lines, and you have a role that is not really suited to Dinklage at all. It was cool hearing a memorable voice and having a big name involved, but he really wasn't the best man for the job. Nolan, on the other hand, has tons of experience with this kind of role. Voicing virtual characters is his profession, and you can really see it in the new Ghost's performance. Regardless of whether or not you actually like the sound of the new voice, I think there's no denying that the way he says the lines feels a lot more natural and carries more emotion. I think that, with time, people will get used to the way he sounds now, and will realise that it's actually an improvement. I guarantee that if the Ghost had had this voice from the start, there would have been no complaints.

  • To be honest i don't think Peter did a bad job. Some lines were questionable and others are well done. Such as the "we've woken the hive!" (Community favorite) To be honest I don't like Nolans voice, it seems like he has no emotion into any line. Just kinda flat out and there, but alas this is neither Peter or Nolans fault. The writing for what the ghost is supposed to say is really not that intresting. I'd blam it on bad writing.
