"Son" of a god. Not a god.

Technically he is by all mythological standards. Oryx being a minor god in the hive pantheon who is definitely his father automatically gives him some sort of god status. Even if Crotas mother was a mortal then crota at worst would be a Demi god like Hercules or Perseus.
