My Concern with No Day One Raid

My concern is that refusing to release the raid Day One is because there will not be enough content to satisfy the aggressive and hardcore player. If there was enough content and difficulty leading up to the raid, Bungie would be confident enough to include it, knowing that the majority of players would have too much to achieve before even attempting the raid. Or even those who attempt it too early without being properly leveled would be faced with ultimate death and they struggle to realize, they're not ready. Ultimately to me this move means (to me) that there's a good chance I will be 40 in a day from not even trying. Also, the only reasoning I can see them making this move is because they don't want new people to feel like there's no content when some group goes ahead and beats the raid on day 1. Makes your $40 seem less justified. What do you guys think?

  • They did the same with vog and Crota hard before as I'm sure many people have said. In destiny, releasing the raid itself has become a sort of event which I think bungie enjoys seeing. With vog and Crota hard, they set a specific release time for people to get their raid teams together and race to be the first team to finish it. I think bungie is trying to replicate this, where people will b competing to be the first It is something that the player base has also enjoyed in the past. With the grind for new gear to be an appropriate level for the raid, no one will be able to beat it right off the bat. This would spread out this race rather than having it as a tighter more concise event with more competition rather than just having the people willing to take a few days off work without sleep to beat it.

    • You're of course entitled to your opinion but the delay is generally in favour of the hardcore players. Bungie make a big song and dance of the first team to complete the raid. A week or two delay levels the playing field for all teams involved, not just those who have stacked bounties, packages etc.and allows those teams to get used to the new mechanics, tweak their gear etc.

      • The update is already 20 gigs. I'm sure it I'll be larger for raid so maybe they sending it out in pieces instead of a 40 gig download.

        • I don't think they would make it very easy to level up to 40. I'm sure the exp required will push it past one day. Still, if you know you can't raid yet, why not slow down and just enjoy the game instead of obsessing over leveling.

        • I think it's fine. What is the rush afterall? Destiny is not the be all end all, so why rush content? Just enjoy the game and master the new sub classes to use when we finally do get the raid.

        • I think people won't be properly geared, try it, and cry for nerfs before a real chance at playing it

        • VoG didn't release day 1 either. Kind of the same situation here because nobody will be ready to beat it day 1 of ttk

        • Well that's what happens when you play 10 hours a day!! You run out of content!! There are a limited amount of quests and activities you can do in the game..

        • I think it just means they are giving the chance for people to get gear and subclasses leveled up before releasing the raid. Also they did this with VoG and Crota hard, so not really something new.

        • Don't play for 8 hours straight & go to sleep = not running out of content in a day

        • The exact same thing happened with VoG, they're just giving everyone time to get to the level cap and get good gear. I don't see why everyone's freaking out about it. It'll be out in a week, 2 weeks tops.

          • I have a friend that has enough redbull and codes that will probably stay up as long as he has the focused light and redbull in his system to hit forty on all characters. I know he's not the only one and so does bungie. There's always a race to be first to do something especially with twitch and YouTube. I'm sure if the Dreadnought is up people will be grinding for the best farming place, secret locations, pieces of the scattered weapon found etc. It is kind of cool to see this stuff in a month but I'm sure by Friday of the ttk week we will have 40s doing new emote synchronized jigs on YouTube with detailed loadouts complaining about being bored.

          • Nobody can cater to such a small segment. Yeah, you may be able to get ready by playing 20 hours straight - but you probably shouldn't be doing that anyway.

          •
there will not be enough content to satisfy the aggressive and hardcore player.
There will never be enough content in any game to satisfy "the aggressive and hardcore player". Those that take pleasure in rushing to the end only cheapen the experience for themselves.
Except skyrim because I know someone will mention it
• Why is this even a discussion? Both Vog and Crota weren't released right away so what makes you think any other raid will be released any differently?

            • Play with the new things, go to the new places, enjoy the story(fingers crossed) laugh at the jokes, search for the exotic on the dreadnaught, level up the gunsmith, do the crucible weekly bounties, grind the legendary marks for the new weapons/exotics. Do skolas as a 40(wreck that fool) I see no need for a raid just yet. If in a months time I should have 3 guardians ready for it!
