Bungie is going their own way on this. I can't even pin down what type of gamer Bungie is marketing to anymore. The obvious gamer types are all getting boned one way to some degree.
It's the ADD/ADHD generation with these twitch games. They need something shiny. They need something new. What they get may not be all that great but it's new and shiny and it will get them by until the next new and shiny thing comes along.
I'm almost 34 years old. I don't dedicate as much time to video games as I did in my younger days. I don't buy many video games anymore. Even the best games have a month's worth of content to keep me coming back and then I move on. The games are just too damn expensive to justify how quickly they can be completed with minimal replay value. This was supposed to be a game I'd keep playing for years.
This fight isn't even about the Year 1 gear or content when it comes down to it. It's about respecting the time put in by players trying to navigate their way through a shit RNG system to obtain gear they valued. Players just spent too much damn time grinding this bullshit content trying to makeup for a fickle reward system. Players are pissed because they "wasted" a lot of time trying to obtain gear that Bungie will so easily throw away. Then these players are told to move on and are talked down to by developers and PR fanboys.
Seriously, the condescension coming from Bungie is thick.
