What is RE? Religious education? If so, you must have gone to a catholic school of some sort? That's like saying, "I play on an Xbox one but I hate how all this Microsoft crap is being shoved down my throat". If you went to a school like that, what do you expect? They don't teach that in public schools in the way you describe. Furthermore, I've met and seen a ton of non-believers shove what they believe or don't believe down people's throats. Just scroll down. Best example I can think of is Bill Maher (which is where a lot of atheists get their ideas from). That dude is super insulting and others who believe what he says just spout the same vitriol.

  • Yes, religious education. And it wasn't my choice. There are only 2 local high schools in my area, one is Catholic, the other is Protestant, both are public schools, though the one I went to had a better track record for higher grades, and was closer to my house. I didn't have a choice when I was 11 years old and my parents decided to send me there. Plus, it wasn't so bad until about 3rd year, that's when the teacher started picking on me, all the way until 6th year when I left.

  • I understand it wasn't your choice at all, few things are at that age. All I'm saying is that schools like that obviously force feed you their beliefs. So in this regard, I'm talking about regular people, especially forum users. I find the non-believers to be far worse, rude and insulting.

  • Also, being Scottish, and the only local schools being Catholic and Protestant, sectarianism was very prominent, with fights breaking out between both schools. And I don't mean a few pupils from each school fighting each other, I mean like hundreds of pupils from each school marching to meet each other, with claw hammers and chisels from the tech department, having full scale brawls after school that innocent pupils walking home (myself included) got caught up in, with the police having to come and split it up, all because they didn't approve of each other's beliefs. I try to distance myself from that too.

  • It's just the deliberate attempts to humiliate me in class. I'd have no issue sitting in that class and just listening to the lessons, but the fact I was picked on by the teacher made me hate it. I hated high school lol
