That's true for a lot of religions. But, this is exactly why Christianity is so unique. According to the bible, living a moral life is good, but it has no bearing on your standing with God and your eternal resting place. God expects perfection. A person with even one sin is just as guilty as the person with a myriad of sin. God is just and he must punish sin. Everyone has sinned so everyone is headed to hell. God has no obligation to save us, we've chosen to sin so our punishment is just. However, God is also loving and he created us to fellowship with us and he wants us to choose to love him. So, in his love, he took on the form of a man and lived the perfect life that we couldn't do. He then took on all of our sin and the just punishment for that sin and offers his perfect righteousness to us, if we but trust that he did it. This is why Christianity stands out from the rest. Every other religion has some form of earning involved. We as humans are drawn to that. Our pride makes us want to earn things so we can be exalted. We don't like to hear that we can't do something, but that's exactly what Christianity says. We cannot be perfect, so our loving God says he'll do it for us and even though we deserve death, he offers us life through no merit of our own.
