Im a newb streamer, don't want to be a cleavage streamer

http://www.twitch.tv/shootingpandas 24+ hour stream on 9/15 starting at 5am eastern! So I'm a newb streamer. I plan on getting a playstation camera in the future to stream more, but I need pointers. I am a girl and everyone says that I need to show cleavage to get a lot of views. I really don't want that. Granted I will freshen up though and wear makeup and dress appropriately but Can you give me pointers and advice? I have some past broadcasts and would love if anyone with some free time could check them out. Lately I have some cod ones so please excuse those. I understand having a schedule helps, but I don't plan on making one until I get a camera. Thank you so much ahead of time!!!!! -pandas WHAT I HAVE LEARNED: Nightbot Be yourself, dress as you would normally. Don't be monotone, speak well and address audience. If camera shy, place picture beneath camera to help. Help viewers every once in a while. Don't straight up ask for donations. Check other high up streams for examples. Try to be humorous and entertaining. Don't be berating and trolly against chat trolls. Expect nasty chat messages as a female, ignore it. Try to save $ to invest in better streaming equipment. Have party chat with everyone's voice to be heard. Create a schedule, shows commitment. Try streaming when main popular streamers are not. Do not rage over own stupidity and blame other players Do not need camera, but if do make sure background appropriate and lighting is good. Have a good microphone. There are some more that are very specific but I promise that I have made note of them. If I seem to be missing more info please let me know so I can add them to this post and use this thread as my "cheat sheet". Edit: Lots of sound advice from everyone. Thank you so much! I still welcome more! YwY Edit 2: wow! So much to read! I may not Che able to comment them all but I am listening to all you have to offer! Thank you so much for trying to help a future streamer! :) Edit 3: I've decided to do the whole cam thing. I will be getting one this weekend and trying it out for a stream. :)

  • Do the pandas do the shooting or are you shooting the pandas? But I'd say personality and content is key. Pretty and boring doesn't cut it for me. You have to be entertaining, it's like hosting a party, you want people to stay and have fun. A good and fair mod goes a long way too.

  • I'm on ps4 too and no you don't need to show anything just be yourself and play like you like you give it a little twist of your personality and you should be fine:)

  • Be who you are. What I mean is, if your fraudulent in your personality, people will pick up on it. People will love or hate you, but either way they'll do so for who you are, which is refreshing in an era where people act how they think others want them to.

    • You don't need to show any cleavage lol. If you're sending good vibes and all around a fun person to watch people will come and they may not. Your channel is not going to blow up overnight. Take a note from popular female streamers like LacedUpLauren, she doesn't flaunt cleavage or anything of that nature.

    • I wouldn't worry too much about how you look - it'll be whether your content is interesting that's most important. In my experience, the more someone's themselves, the more interesting they are - so just do what feels comfortable. Best of luck!

    • A fat bald guy could put on a wig, lipstick and a push up bra and be playing solitaire and his stream would have hundreds of viewers.

      • The 'cleavage streamers' probably stem from there being an almost infinite supply of horny teenage virgins who play games. It's like if cats could buy their own catnip.

      • Awesome. I look forward to it. You should also play in a group. Friendly banter keeps the streams marchin' on. Good luck.

        • Plan out your content carefully beforehand. - Get to know whether your main crowd prefers pvp or pve content. Establish a regular play schedule (The100 can help with this). - Identify your crowd: what sort of viewers do you want to cater to? It's hard to keep everyone entertained. - Once you've ID'd you crowd, figure out when they watch and how long you'll want to stream for them. - Co-promote: consider running content events with other streamers. Team battles (3v3) against another streamers team. Find some girlfriends and guy friends (all girls or a mix might do well) that enjoy playing Destiny and form a team ahead of time. Consistent, proven-kid viewers might be willing to help with this. - Regular streaming is ok, but be sure to plan out events in regular intervals. Don't just throw something together, plan it out in detail what you want to do, and consider asking a trusted friend to help you run them (in person). Side-note: comments about sound being important are spot on. If you really want to stream, you'll want to have capable sound and internet equipment.

        • You're already succeeding at one of the quickest ways to get views. Be female. Not kidding dude streamer who has been doing it for over a year. Girls naturally have an advantage. I made two posts recently. 1. Male streamer looking for support. Results? Like 1 person, other than my regulars showed up. The post was quickly drowned in anonymity. 2. Female streamer looking for support. Results? Post exploded with 2 people, omg I support you don't listen to haters. And who cares if you're a girl, I'll still watch though. Stream got 20+ New viewers other than my regulars. When they found out it was a dude wearing a wig they either laughed and stuck around or just left super butt hurt going back to the post and making a bunch of omg it's a dude don't watch! Messages. Lol don't worry your content can be pretty mediocre and just by being a girl with a cam. You're going to succeed.

        • I personally hate the mainstream of streamers. But best of luck to you, be original and interesting. A streamers over exaggerate and yell or scream worst than 3 yr old children. It's annoying that they're all the same.

        • Patience. Don't be bitchy. Don't let the trolls and idiots bait you into saying something rude. If you wouldn't say it IRL, don't say it because you're on a stream. Wear what makes you comfortable. If that's a hoodie and sweats with your hair in a get-out-of-my-face bun on your head, do it. If that's make up and cute outfits that match accessories, do it. Please, for the love of Jesus, don't make half your stream your cam. I see so many girls who have their camera so large that I can hardly see the game they're playing. I've seen one guy do this too and it was just as annoying. Also, make sure your audio is good. Top of my head advice. Basically, do you, boo.

          • Streaming is a pain in the ass, especially when you just start out. I just started a YouTube channel and it's complicated as hell. You're at a disadvantage though, you need people to be watching while you're doing it. Just try hard. Have confidence in youself. It's all you can really do.

            • Give it your own flair and make it reflect upon your personality. As well having someone admin or just make sure you keep yourself in check with the mute button as trolls are every where and don't let them bait you.
