Were many parts of the bible taken from other religions/societies?
-
-
What about the story of Noah's Ark?
-
What about it?
-
Well it is clearly the Epic of Gilgamesh stolen and slightly modified for Christianity.
-
There are many flood stories. Just because something was written down before something else doesn't make it the original story. Most stories were shared orally at that time. Also, Moses who lived about 1500 years after the flood, wrote the first 5 books of the bible. So the stories were spreading through oral tradition, we can't know what stories came first, only which were written down first. The bible contains the most detailed and historically accurate account.

The story of Noah's Ark is clearly plagurized from the Epic of Gilgamesh trying to deny it is clearly an attempt to lie to yourself, what about the overwhelming similarities between Jesus an Horus? (Horus pre-dates Jesus by 1000 years)
-
Lol. Those similarities are blatantly false. Please do some actual research. https://youtu.be/Hbvfqa_mzLw

I have done research and the similarities are there whether you refuse to see them or not. It seems you know very little of the origin of the bible and the stories contained within which is interesting considering you claim to have spent so long studying it.

Edited by GR0MS: 8/25/2015 11:53:17 AMNo they aren't there. They were proposed by a self proclaimed egyptologist Gerald Massey and have since been rejected by the vast majority of actual egyptologists, historians, and theologians. Let's take just one example. Jesus and Horus were born on December 25th? The bible never gives nor implies any date for Jesus' birthday. The Catholic church, which has been trying to pervert Christianity since their advent, created Christmas to coincide with pagan festivals. But, it's not biblical. Research doesn't count if you're only seeking to justify your presuppositions.

Edited by Æsir: 8/25/2015 12:14:11 PMOnly fools believe that december 25th is jesus' birthday and anyone who is reasonably informed know that Christmas is basically the Christian version of saturnalia. Seriously you need to do some research into the origins of the bible and its contents.
-
Did you not read what i said? Yes only fools believe that and it's of Catholic origin not Christian. And yet that's one of the main points for your half cocked theory that the story of Jesus and Horus are similar. Like you said, only a fool would believe that.
-
That's not what I said at all, now you are just trying to twist my words.
-
Yes it was.
-
Where did I say that only a fool would believe that there are similarities between the story of Horus and Jesus?
-
Not about that, but about one of your other "points".
-
How can one be so sure?
-
Humble yourself and honestly cry out to God.
