Maybe, but the origins of a belief have no bearing on its validity.
-
That is exactly my point. You believing Christianity is the valid religious choice is based on the time and geography of your birth and not any inherent truth in the Bible.
-
Nope. That's how I was introduced to it , but not why I believe it.
-
And if you had been born in Yemen you would be making the exact same claim just about a different religion.
-
There are a whole lot of converts that invalidate your argument.
-
Only if the converts go I one direction which they don't.
-
Actually that makes my point stronger. You stated that people only believe based on where they're born. But that's not the case.
-
No it only works if converts only go towards Christianity because that would be a decent indicator that it has an inherent truth that causes people to shift beliefs. That is not what happens so what you are left with are people that find themselves at a time and in a place that is conducive for them to change beliefs.
-
We're not talking about only Christianity. You brought up Islam too. Your assertion that people's beliefs are only based on their origin, is erroneous. People change beliefs all the time in many different directions. People believe what they have found to be true, regardless of how they were exposed to it.
-
Jews Christians and Muslims all worship the same God, and have the same basic beliefs. (Not including extremists). They just believe in different prophets, and who spoke the word of God. I.E. Jesus/Muhammed. Yet with so much in common, they still manage to look down on those who don't EXACTLY agree with them. Conclusion: Religion is a load of bullshit. If you REALLY want to find out that God exists, die.
-
Actually they contradict one another, therefore they don't believe in the same God.
