Thank you for proving the op. A bunch of baseless assertions.

Edited by LiamCDM: 8/23/2015 8:58:34 PMBaseless?
1. John 15:6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. 2. Timothy 2:12 “I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent.” 3. Samuel 1:26 "I grieve for you, Jonathan my brother; dear and delightful you were to me; your love for me was wonderful, surpassing the love of women." The bible is full of intolerant opinions and most of the intolerance in the world comes from religious people. Of course not all Christians/Jews/Muslims are bad, but the faith itself promotes a lot of ignorance.
Edited by GR0MS: 8/23/2015 9:36:58 PMIf someone is a non believer, we proclaim the gospel to them and love them. We don't discriminate. If they reject Jesus, though, they will go to hell for their sin. Homosexuality is a sin, but we love them, and proclaim the gospel to them. The verse in Timothy is specifically talking about women having authority over men in a church. Women are more persuasive than men, so if a female church leader falls into a false teaching, she could more easily persuade the men and the whole church into that teaching. It's a safeguard to the true gospel. And as far as slavery in ancient Israel, it was completely different than the American south slavery. There are a myriad of rules as to how slaves can be treated. And Jesus even states that there are things in the mosaic law that weren't God's original intent, but that he allowed because of the hardness of the peoples hearts. He knew trying to outright ban a practice that was deeply imbedded in the culture wouldn't work. It's like telling horny teenagers that they're only option it abstinence. It's definitely the best option for preventing pregnancy and stds, but they aren't going to listen. So, we teach them about birth control and set reasonable boundaries.

You are reading it way too literally
-
What do you mean too literally? These are direct orders from God. It's like saying that laws that say not to murder are up to interpretation. This isn't some story from the bible.

Edited by LiamCDM: 8/23/2015 9:11:15 PMSo am I supposed to pick out and choose what I want to believe in the bible? Because that's just silly. Either it's all true, or none of it's true; and I guarantee you dear sir, that the Bible is 99.999% bullshit. There probably was a Jesus though.
