I think the bible is a great book. It has some wonderful moral teachings but it should not be regarded as historically accurate or completely factual. There are discrepancies and inconsistencies throughout it. It was written by man and man is fallible. The bible is just a collection of allegorical moral stories that people and groups throughout history have used to their own groups interpretation. Now, I can't say that the bible is proof that God exists, since being written by man, tends to the notion that man created God.
