You have the guy a glimmer of hope...then you kicked him in the nuts. I wouldn't have handled it in the same way, but I would have kicked him too. Maybe before the last round, kick him and get a friend or someone who needs/deserves it more.
I usually wouldn't agree with kicking at the treasure room because it has happened to me. However, I got kicked for no reason.
