When I was lvl 3 I got a Gozen-C (pretty sure that's what it's called) sniper. It was amazing. It was practically my primary then. I one shot anything red and 3 shot the majors. I loved it and never wanted to let it go.
Then one day I leveled up and moved on to a further part in the story. Sadly my lvl 3 sniper was a thing of the past and all I wanted to do was get the new weapons. It was a great sniper and I loved dominating pve with it but it was no longer relevant and it was time to move on.
Year one was awesome with some really fun guns that were very rewarding to use. But it's time for us to look to the future and new gear and new content!
Personally I would love to use Gally to burn bosses in TTK. However, I DID THAT ALL YEAR 1! I ground for it. I used it. I'm ok with moving on.
TL;DR-you got to use year 1 gear (well the stuff RNG blessed you with) for a year. Time to get some new stuff.

It's different. Your item was a beginners item at level 3. All my exotics are end game weapons. They should not rendered useless.

Why does them being end game weapons make them different? They are end game of year 1. Now it's going to be year 2. You are literally leveling up like I did.

Because this is an expansion, not destiny 2. An expansion should not make weapons from the original game useless

Exactly, other games use end game gear and when a big expansion comes out its no longer end game gear. People should stop pretending or believing this game is something you shouldn't have to keep grinding to stay relevant in end game.

Also, I shed a small tear for you having to lay to rest your beloved Gozen-C. It will always remain with you...in your heart.

The thing with exotics being taken to year 2 is that they ARE new. Suros having Spin Up instead of focus fire. New color schemes. Taking an exotic to year 2 means it WILL be new!
