I agree it wasn't cool to kick him/her at the chest. They should have just kicked him/her after 1st round.

Perhaps the OP and his friend believed that "Mr. Scrub" would've eventually decided to pull his weight at even later on near the final round. If he didn't decide to leave on his own then I honestly believe that the punishment was justifiable. Hopefully, he would've learned his lesson and actually helped in other matches.
