As much as your emotional appeal is both valid and moving, I cannot support you in it. I love Destiny, have played since release, and am overjoyed to see the grand majority of this year's exotics being thrown out the window, even considering that I have spent literally days of my life searching for them.
As much as I would love my MIDA Multitool to accompany me in slaying Oryx, I am overjoyed that no-one will be using a Thorn (as ironic as it might be, considering the weapon's backstory) either.
And think of all the new, exciting exotics we will soon be grinding ceaselessly to obtain! Even the degradation of an old friend of mine, the Gjallarhorn, is a good thing because it opens the way for Bungie to make new weapons. Imagine an Iron Banner not filled with exotic handcannons but with other weapons of more varied form. Bungie is burying the past with TTK and, as much as I respect you for commemorating it, I join them in both their exaltation and mourning; after all, aren't funerals as much a celebration of life as a commiseration of death?
(And besides, if you want to keep using your old tools forever, just play standard PvP, everything is levelled, or just do old Raids if you're a PvE kind of guy. Just PLEASE do not drag us who wish to move on down with your coffin!)
