Chapter 12: To Kill A Prime (part 2)
Marcus-3 looked back at Elain as she slept peacefully on his couch. After making sure she was relatively okay, he turned back around in his seat and flew his jumpship into the Tower Hangar.
Getting up, he walked over to his Defender friend and picked her up in his metal arms, careful not to wake her. Walking out of his ship, he carried her to the Med Bay.
"Rex, stay here with Owen, and guard the ship." he told his Ghost as he walked away. The Ghosts acknowledged and closed the loading ramp as Marcus walked away.
A Frame greeted Marcus as he entered the Medical Bay, he said hello and placed Elain on a nearby gurney. Then he walked over to the check-in area and checked her in under his name. Soon after, Surgical Frames took Elain into a nearby room and operated on her, fixing her collapsed lung and cracked ribs.
Once the surgery was all said and done, Elain was kept in her very own room to recover. Since she was still under the drugs given to her, it would take a few days before she could be back on her feet. Marcus sat by her side immediately, only going into sleep-mode at night. When he was not sleeping, he paced the room, his boots thudding against the floor. He looked out of the window/wall and gazed down at the city below, basking in it's silent beauty. Without realizing it, the Exo fell into his sleep-like state.
"He was on a snowy mountain. There was a large cave, which led to its heart. Walking through it's bone outlined entrance, Marcus felt an uneasiness creep over him, like he was being watched. He walked further into the tunnel, Fallen light sticks began dotting the walls. Suddenly, there was a loud whirring noise, and flashes of purple light. He walked to where he thought they originated and found himself in a massive room, almost like an arena. A large purple, spiked orb floated in the center. He reached out to touch it, but stepped back when horrible roars and shrieks were heard. Dull orange lights flickered on, and the orb sparked to life, it was The Prime. A loud piercing whistle erupted in his frequency processors and he fell to his knees in agony, clutching his skull. A deep boom, wove itself into the high-pitched ring: [You have come here uninvited, War Machine, this is my Lair, and here I rule. I, am the Machine God, and you cannot possibly fathom my power.] Marcus screamed as the pitch got louder, all the sounds blending together, and his skull felt searing hot."
"Marcus! Marcus!?" A frantic voice reached his processors. "Marcus, what's wrong?!"
He opened his eyes and saw Elain leaning over him, her black hair hanging over her face. Her face relaxed when she saw the Exo awake. She got up and sat on her hospital bed, her green eyes looking at her friend in concern.
Marcus, stood and did a soft reboot of his system. Once complete, he walked over to the closet where Elain's armor and clothes were. Bringing them to her, he noticed that she was studying him.
"What?" he asked as he handed her gear to her.
She took the clothes and put them on her lap, "You were dreaming, weren't you?"
Marcus looked down at his boots, "You know I can---yeah I was...."
"Wanna talk about it?" She asked.
"It was about the Prime, the one I'm hunting." He mumbled.
"How do you know?"
"It was in the Rocky Mountains, which are in the Old U.S." He looked up at her, and saw that she was in thought. "I'll tell you the rest on the way back, but first get changed."
Elain nodded and Marcus left the room while she changed into her clothes and battle-worn armor. She picked up the rest of her belongings and met Marcus outside, together they walked to the check-out station.
Once the finished, Elain went ahead of Marcus. Before he could leave the Med Bay, a hand grabbed his shoulder and a voice rang out, "Hello, Marcus, old friend."
The Exo turned and found himself staring at another of his kind, "Kryptic? Oh, shit."
"Oh shit is right, Marcus, you didn't think I'd forget that little incident on Mars, did you?" The Exo said slyly, his orange voice module lighting up with delight.
Elain came back to find the two Exos staring at each other. She stopped in her tracks and froze, "Uh, Marcus, who is this?"
The Exo known as Kryptic-7, spoke, "Aah, hello Elain, dear, it's been a while since we've met huh? You may not recognize me with the new horns," he tapped the black metal protrusions on his green skull, "but I am Kryptic nonetheless."
What happened next was a mix of a friendly reunion and a rival encounter. The Exo known as Kryptic had found out that Marcus wanted to hut down and kill a Prime Servitor, and had decided that he would aid him, for a price. Now that the tension had defused between them and Marcus had found another fireteam member, he asked Elain if she still didn't want to help,
"You know what, I think I will tag along." Marcus silently celebrated that, "But first, I've got to get my weapons from my cave, so Marcus, if you'll take us there, that'd be awesome.
The Striker nodded and led them to his ship. he greeted Owen and Rex, and sat down in the pilot's seat. The roar of the engines drowned out any sounds, and swiftly, he sped out of the Tower Hangar and into the blue sky.
