For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...
Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

I don't mind as a change will be nice. I'm seeing TTK as essentially a new game - and no one ever expects to take guns from one game into another. So anything that does come over is a bonus.

Had them all for a while now and just feel its time for some new ones, I am excited to use the revamped old ones though it will be nice to see what they do with the truth but as for the ones that don't get upgraded if I want to use them I will in older year one stuff and just enjoy what's new to come

I want to see gally in the new raid along side dragons breath and sleeper simulant. In other words just let exotics be the best... dont leave behind year one weapons because i can garentee they will not steal any spotlight from the year 2 exotics as long as they live up to the level that year one set. Ps: i completely support the changes to legendarys. Just not exotics.

If year 1 content was getting an increase in difficulty and levelling then I would think the year 1 exotics could be in order for a buff, but as they're remaining the same I think the exotics are fine as they are. For example: it would be quite ridiculous using a level 40 ghorn (or other top tier exotic) on level 30 atheon, do you see my point?

True it doesnt get as strong as the new year 2 weapons but i can pop into a VoG or Crota run with acouple of buds and whip it for old times sake. And if anything else they might release something more powerful. A Gjallarhorn 2.0 with different perks and such. Who knows?

2 RepliesI'm all for progression. I never wanted etheric light in the first place. Exotics are a little different but they need a baseline realm of power (balance) as well. What I want from bungie is consistency. Every DLC drop, we're doing something different. It appears there is no communication and by all appearance, they have no real plan or roadmap. If they do, and this was the plan all along, I would have even less confidence than I do currently, which isn't much.

While I agree that all exotics should be pushed forward...possibly think about it from Bungie's view. This is all speculation but...this might be a data issue. Every expansion they are expected to bring out new exotics, all the time. Great. But someone over at Bungie did the math, and fogured that, if they continue to being forward every exotic in the game to the newer titles...that's a helluva lot of exptics, each of which require their own extensive design and programing. Not to mention their balance must be considered, etc. This might not be a problem for TTK, or even Destiny 2 at launch but, at the end of the 10 year cycle, it most certainly will be. I want all exotics to be brought forward but, after I have thought about it from Bungie's PoV, I can see where they might be coming from. Perhaps they are starting to leave exotics behind as year 2 starts so as to introduce us to the concept of leaving exotics behind.

I want to move on, I'm sick of seeing (and using) the same loadout over and over, I want new guns, more choice and not 1 best rocket launcher but several BIS heavy weapons. If I was forced into using gjallahorn for 10 years because it was always best in slot and "needed" to join fireteams I wouldn't be playing for long. That's just a my opinion, I'm sure many disagree, and that's okay.

I think all of them should be left behind, not just a select few. Why? It's Y2. Y1 weapons should be able to handle the beginning of TTK activities same as they do right now and as you progress through TTK they should become less powerful - which in turn makes you desire getting new weapons to make the content easier - and finally that they basically are completely useless in end game content. So if you bust out your Gally on Oryx the hit marker should read immune. And yes, when Y3 hits, all of Y2 items should also become obsolete in the same manner. Of course Destiny already screwed up this entire natural progression by allowing for Fatebringer, example, to be ascended to 365 and now they're allowing some of the older exotics to be viable.

I am ok with gally being left behind but some of the other onces don't make sense on why you would leave them behind. I would love to see a NLB being ttk overhauled or ice breaker, heck why not all of the quest exotics that we had to do getting the overhaul

I'm OK with it because I'm willing to move on and try new things hopefully receiving a challenge. Something we didn't have here in year one.

I'm okay with it because all the scrubs got their hands on gally via xur. If everyone had gallies in the taken king, the new boss encounters wouldn't be as fun

4 RepliesOrrrrrr I could not be so negative and come to a realization that in 99% of video games you have to move on. There's also a very good chance that lots of this "vanilla" exotics will be brought back in future dlc. But go ahead! Keep bitching, crying, and bringing down this game. We all know that you and many others who won't shut up about how bad this dlc is gonna be will play the shit out of it.

I like new content. I don't want to keep Gjally as a go to for the whole of this game. It will be a trophy though. Years down the road, people will wonder what that is and I'll be sure to show it off

Because I'm not someone who would want to use a crutch and I don't want to have the same load out throughout my years. Gjallarhorn is now simply a weapon kept to bring the memories of Year 1. First raids, fun times with my clan. And that makes it worth keeping.

Well I'm a more of a hardcore gamer if there is a better gun out there I'm gonna use it wether I like the gun or not and frankly I've been tired of the fb bh and gally combo for a while now and want new stuff to go after if they made year 2 of these guns they may still be the best and I would still be using them 1 year is enough for me to be tired of old guns I want new ones
