For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...
Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

I'm fine with it bc if I was able to upgrade them I wouldn't want to use the new exotics so now I'm "forced" to and I wanna be using new things.

I'm very indifferent on this and I don't know when I'll make up my mind. I really hope the new weapons are worth a shit. If they give us garbage weapons to use I'll be mad. If it's a more balanced experience with varying load outs I'll be fine with it.

I don't think that's the point. The point is that the majority of the reason that people did nightfalls and weeklies since Atheon was knocked the -blam!- off the ledge last fall, was because -blam!-ING GJALLARHORN. The only reason people grinded was for that damn rocket launcher, and they are basically saying "WELL, BIG WASTE OF TIME WE ARENT ALLOWING IT TO BE RELEVANT ANYMORE BECAUSE THATS NOT HOW WE WANT YOU TO PLAY!" it's a slap to the face. I get it, it's time to move on, but they chose to cut out the only reason people have played this content-less, trite and repetitive piece of crummy beta. People payed more than 120 dollars to get extra content to have more available grind missions just to get it! I don't understand why Bungie continues to slap it's loyal fans in the face. They keep doing some crummy things just because they want us to play a certain way so their weapon statistics can look a certain way. Bungie are a -blam!-ing asshat worn by Activision, they aren't very intuitive or very intelligent, as it seems.

Because just like with legendaries some of this stuff are staples and if we have no reason to replace them we will not. I for one have a firm stance against power creeping, so I feel it's best for the game.

I'm in favor of progression and am looking forward to collecting and enjoying the new pieces I'm not terribly attached to any weapon (except vision...sad face but I'm over it) The game can never truly move forward unless we are forced to leave things behind, otherwise the community won't let it I understand the grind and I understand people are going to be upset but when it comes down to it it is necessary for the game to grow For example how can we have bosses that have unique attacks and aren't bullet sponges if we remain capable of burning it down with ghorn in 30 seconds? How can we be challenged by new story and strike content if we can hang back and snipe with ice breaker, a weapon I affectionately call the cheat code? We have been playing all the content the exact same way because we have figured out what is most efficient, time for us to figure out a new way Again I get why people are angry but I'm not terribly upset, im even excited! We are about to get something NEW!! And we will have to figure out new strategies to beat it. Isn't that exciting? Remember the feeling during Beta and finding the Grotto? Or your first time on Venus? How can we feel that way again if we know we can ice break the shit out of anything? Or that we can burn any boss or mob? We are about to get as close to unknown as we veteran players can and I'm pumped

I'm excited to try new things and grind for new gear. I understand people who are upset because of the guns not advancing but to me it's a chance to try new guns which could end up being even more fun than the year one weapons.

I'm fine with it because it gets boring using the same weapons for so long. My gally was my second exotic I ever received, and I have only used it like twice. I have used thorn ever since I got it when it was one of the worse exotics. It is by far my favorite weapon, but I honestly feel like it is time to move on and find a new favorite. That is part of the fun. What good are new weapons if I am just going to continue using the same weapon for 10 years? That would just feel pointless to me. I kind of wish they would just leave all of the gear behind and let us start from scratch. It would be more fun to find new gear than to just recycle all of the gear we have been using for a year. Yes, I know some people would rather do that. That is fine. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I'm just giving mine.

And during the stream they said that those were the exotics that could be upgraded as of now (or something like that). They may make it upgradable at some point. And even if they dont, there will be a replacement. I'm not gonna lose my shit over a gun in a video game

Because it's all RNG. Nothing is really earned. It's all just luck. Sure you can say you did a lot of grinding for your stuff. Doing night falls and raids every week. But really, it still comes down to luck. I've played with people who've gotten an exotic from both raids and the night fall all in one day. While others didn't even get any for several weeks. Nothing is ever really earned in a game based on RNG. It's all about the roll of the dice. So I'm totally fine with having to get new gear. Keeps the game fresh for me. I get bored after a while of using the same top tier gear. I for one need change to stay interested. Now I know not everyone likes change. Especially if they feel as tho they are being forced into it. But when a sequel comes out to a video game isn't it kind of the same deal? Yes this is just DLC but the concept it still the same.

This thing happens all the time. You get gear, level it, find better gear and move on. Borderlands does it, Skyrim, WoW, Dragon age. I have no problem with moving on from my weapons. I enjoy discovering new gear and becoming stronger. I am looking forward to TTK. I still have my issues with Destiny; mainly story related. That being said I am excited to play TTK.

6 RepliesBecause its the same load out for everything PvE over and over. I use 4 maybe 5 weapons on a normal basis for end game content. Fatebringer, found verdict or black hammer, gjallerhorn. I have, like many guardians, so many other weapons but they never come to participate with these 4 weapons, it's time to give them a break and use something else, bungie is just making the transition for you.

1. It's about time I had a reason to look forward to getting more gear. It's been so long since I did a nightfall, raid, or crucible thinking "oh I hope I get this", then getting excited when I do get it. My gallys and all the rest of my weapons have served me well, but I'm ready to look forward to drops again. 2. I'm 95% sure that so many people will request that all year one exotics be upgradeable to the new values eventually. Bungie has shown multiple times that changes to things in game that previously "weren't going to happen" ended up happening do to overwhelming amounts of people requesting it.

For the last 8 and a half years, Thunderfury has been in my bank collecting dust because it was left behind and replaced by new gear and new legendaries to chase. This is the very cornerstone of the genre. You must be one of those people who bought into the whole [i]"But Destiny's NOT an MMO!"[/i] line of BS. Sorry you were led astray because the very core of Destiny IS MMORPG. At the risk of being THAT guy, just be thankful they're allowing some of the exotics to move forward. It's better than the Warcraft model where nothing but cosmetic stuff was worth keeping into a new expansion.

Because I had the most fun when crucible was flooded with blue weapons not yellow hand cannons. When atheon was killed with a select few legendaries and blues and not black hammer and Gally. I want to see how people adapt when their crutches are kicked from under their arms

I'm ok with it cause I bought the game for its mmo like content and in an mmorpg, gear and raids getting left behind is the norm. If you are a fps player then I can see why you are losing your minds over this, since you're not use to this. Just know it'll be ok.

I'm ok with it because some exotic a need a break. Bungie is shuffling the meta, and I'm fine with that. They will still work in all the year one stuff fine. New gear, and updated gear are fine with me!
