For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...

Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch. My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding. UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

  • I just like trying new things, I get bored if I spend more than 5 weeks using the same weapon
I think I have a problem..
• Did everything in this game before I had Gjally. Probably a better weapon in TTK. Gjally is easy mode. Be nice to have some challenges agian. Pixels are only pixels.

    • Games like Cod or Assassins Creed wipe youre entire characters clean with every new game, which comes out every year. So saying bye to a gun, I could care less. Plus that game was over used, I'm glad we're being forced to move forward.

    • Because in year one I felt as if I HAD to use to best weapons at all times. (Ghallys, fate bringer, blackhammer, thorn, etc) hopefully with the new dlc I can be more flexible with gear/weapons.

    • The game wouldn't make it 10 years if you just kept upgrading old gear instead of having new items to hunt for. What would even be the point of continuing?

      • Excellent post! I can not defend their decision in the least. Seems like a HUGE misstep. Even holding back the legendary guns was a bad mistake. They increased vault space but really, why at this point? They could have made all these new and hopefully GREAT legendary and exotics and kept all the old stuff relevant. People would not be "forced" to use any gun. In fact, quite the opposite; you would see more variety in pve and pvp than ever before. No one would use fatebringer constantly, even if it weren't nerfed, as long as they made new guns that were as fun to use. But.............i know that it keeps play time down and perhaps would cause TTK to sell less. It's all about the numbers. I get it from a business perspective but it could come around to bite them in the ass if enough people aren't just overwhelmingly happy with the actual DLC and everything in it. This is going to take some crazy dedication to get where you want and get that loadout you like. Y'all haven't seen a grind yet, this is going to be crazy

      • I'm gonna be real. I -blam!-ing struggled getting the gally, and I will forever remember getting it in that nightfall. I will also admit to the pure rage of xur selling it after I finally got mine. But do I care about most exotics and fun weapons getting left behind? Yes. But do we as a community stop playing the game and saying that we are angry before we even get a look at the new exotics? No. People who are angry are understandable, but we shouldn't pull the trigger before we know what's out there. That's my opinion towards it all.

Why does everyone assume it took forever to find gjally. I found my first gjally after 500 hours, some people find it in their first 2 weeks of play. I'm at 1100 hours but I've found 5 more gjallies so drop the grind argument because there's no way to go after a particular weapon unless were talking the bounties. So while you were going through RNG, you received other items, weapons, armor, materials and the like. You received raid weapons, coveted legendaries and materials to upgrade them all. Materials that are now worth a lot of glimmer or motes of Light to further improve legendaries with perks you like. The real reason is because Gjallys ruined challenges and prison of elders as an example is a perfectly good reason why gjally won't synch properly with year 2. All the bosses in poe have mechanics. Like qudron. A popular method for making the fight easy? Burn him with gjally . 2 gjallys and some guy with his primary can drop him to a quarter health and start the fight from there. Thats true for most of the bosses excluding skolas but we gjally the shit out of him anyway. These bosses aren't by any means hp tanks like the original vaalus tuuarc but we use the same strats. I'm also just bored of gjallahorn . only use it if I'm carrying people . so I'm a bit biased

      • That's the way MMO type games work. When new content is released you leave your old gear behind and move on to the new. Plus gally was the biggest crutch in this game without a majority of the people who play wouldn't be able to clear content.

      • I'm alright with leaving stuff behind for the new. Especially omolon. But that's what this game is. Grind. But it's entertaining grind. It is just what you do. Move on and grind some more for the next OP weapon

      • I would prefer that all exotics made would be upgradable over the next ten years along with all the ones yet to be made. That way we woukd a huge ten year collection.

        • Im okay with this because Im simply tired of all pve loadouts containing a primary with appropriate burn, sniper/shotgun and gjallarhorn. Hopefully this will shaken up things a bit. Maybe an exotic primary is usable after ttk.

        • Why am I okay with it? Because I'm sick of the same old weapons. And I've also played a ton of mmos. This type of thing happens all the time. Quit being a whiney console pleb and get over it

        • It is inevitable. Exotics have to be left behind in order to progress the game forward. If not we may be using the almighty ballerhorn when we are killing the final boss of the darkness. Do you still ride your first bike that you ever had? Do you still wear clothes from when you were one? This progression is not a bad thing. We killed countless bosses with our ballerhorn a. We wrecked havoc in the crucible with our thorns and last words (some people might even remember the almighty suros). But it is time to move forward, and start our new journey with the exotics that we will earn in TTK. It wouldn't be the same experience if you earned the new REDACTED from killing REDACTED but you still had the same old ballerhorn in your back pocket. You wouldn't be as excited because you already had the best the game has to offer. However I do enjoy the fact that we will be able to take a few year one exotics to year 2. That was a smart move in my opinion. And from what I have seen they have picked a wide variety of exotics to keep with us and play around with for another year. It is no doubt that when the next major installment for destiny comes out, we will be hesitant to leave behind a few old friends we find in TTK, but for now we have to say goodbye to our good friends that won't be moving forward with us (a least for the endgame such as Trials of Osiris, Iron Banana, The Kings Fall raid, ect).

        • Meh, World of Warcraft and Runescape both taught me to not care about my gear. When better tools come along, I use those tools. I'll keep them as reminders, but what weapon I'm shooting doesn't really matter.

          • I mean, ive seen examples of this in other mmos and such. I would rather use new weapons than keep using gally for the next 10 years honestly. Keeping the vanilla weapons completely upgraded throughlut the years would make things stale for destiny. Besides, is there really anything you guys can do about it? No. So what's the point in people constantly bickering over this complex coding that creates polygons that look like guns?

Weapons and armour that are being left behind isn't that big of a deal. Have a think about it, there are only 3 places in the ENTIRE game where they will not be AS useful. These include; Trials of Osiris, Iron Banner and The Taken King (one DLC). Therefore, this makes Year 1 weapons and armour COMPLETELY viable in VoG, Crota's End, House of Wolves, Strikes and the original story. There is still a lot of places you can use your beloved weapons and armour. If you ever need to feel that bit of nostalgia, whip out your Gjallarhorn and go run a Strike or a Raid.

i had stopped playing right before the first dlc came out and only started playing once i saw the new tTK trailer come out my first exotic was mida and my second was Gallahorn i had never had an exotic before those 2 and never even knew that Gallahorn was such a good rocket so i am not emotionally attached and think that it would push the game forward so were not using the same gun over and over again
