For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...
Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

Because I want new content and new weapons

ALL year one exotics are being left behind. Owning one gives you the opportunity to buy a year two variant which is actually a different weapon.

Because I already played with them. Everyone acts like their grinding has been wasted, even though they've been playing with their guns for months. It's not like Bungie is going to reach back in time and steal that.

I'm ok with it for the most part. I'm ready to move on to newer weapons. I had the pleasure of enjoying almost all the great exotics for quite a while now. I know a lot of people just got the Gally and it is good for everybody to be able to use it to melt face; but at the end of the day(or year) we will all have to move on. This too shall pass.

I'm fine with it. Mainly because this represents a reset of sorts. We will always have year one weapons and gear to remember (and you'd better believe I'm going to screen shot my vault before all is said and done). But keeping the game fresh and developing the world is important for the future of the franchise. Also, it's important to do things like this to rebalance the meta. I love my ghorn. And my icebreaker. And my Fatebringer/blackhammer/vision/fang/swordbreaker. But those guns overshadow others to the detriment of the game. Resetting and leaving some of these guns in the past will give us a chance to explore new options. Lastly I enjoy playing the game more than I enjoy collecting.

I'm alright with it. For one we'll see some new variety breathed into the game. Anyone who got gally within the first couple of months hasn't really needed to use much else. I think bungie's looking at every OU weapon and seeing if they can bring it down to the rest AND looking at every NU weapon and try to bring it up to meet the rest. If they pull it off, we'll have great variety in the crucible, fireteams with different loadouts (ie not all fatebringer/blackhammer/gally) and we get to discover what the new guns are like in TTK without using the things like gally as a (ridiculous) benchmark.

There is only one way I'd be okay with the Gjallarhorn going away--If this is a one-time thing (Bungie admitting, "oops, we messed a few of the guns up"), and going forward exotics will transfer over from year to year. Maybe I'm a minority with this mindset, but I don't see the point of working hard to collect exotics that won't retain their value after a year. I want my favorite gun(s) to come with me over the next few years. If I don't feel like that's happening, realistically I'll probably quit Destiny, because I won't feel like I'm "building" my character.

I think it woulnt last, same with raid weapons...eventually they'll all be brought up to whatever the new max is, for a measly 20 dollars you can bring all your year 1 favorites up to max level ! Yay !

Did everything i have without it. Losing some exotics really isn't a worthy game changer in my eyes. I mean, FFS, its a video game. If everyones so not happy with losing some guns, please don't buy TTK and keep playing year one content.

I see it as a way for them to force us to use their new weapons, even if we don't want to. I am excited for the new stuff but am a little disappointed at how bungie went about this.

Here is the thing with the gally. Some players have played the game since launch. Some of them never received the gally. Now they buy it from xur, only to have a month to enjoy. If they have exotics in year 2, I think the should be easier to obtain.

I loved my first car. I thought it was the greatest car in the world. As the years went by I couldn't help but realize that there was no way I'd met the perfect car my first time around. Now I have fond memories of my first car but am quite happy to have moved on and experienced more cars with their own characters and advantages. Seems like it would have been a pretty small experience of the automotive world to only ever drive one car. Of course, maybe you're the kind of person that only ever wants to drive one car and doesn't feel like that's a limiting experience. If so, I completely understand your position.

They shouldn't leave any exotics behind it's basically saying these were mistakes and we don't want them in our game anymore

Because I'd hate to think of how much vault space we'd need by year 9 or 10 if we could carry over every single weapon and piece of armor.

Because better things will come. Get over it this is how mmo type games work. And before some idiot says this isn't similar to an mmo, There are "mmo" games that have less mmo qualities than this game does. It is a massive multiplayer online fps with role playing tendencies. Emphasis on the massive multiplayer part. Ever game has cool gear that served its time; now it's time for new stuff. If that didn't happen the game would become stale and samey. Let's keep it fresh. There will be a new wep that becomes the new g horn.

I'm not actually ok with it but I want to play the new content so I'm gonna have to put up wit it. But it is gonna make me play less in year 2 now that I know that collecting every exotic is a waste of my time.

I had fun before I got gjally or [insert other exotic here], and I'll have fun after they're no longer useful to me. Would I prefer for my favorite weapons to stay with me for the long journey? Sure. A good gun is like an old friend. Sometimes you just like knowing they're there if you need them. I have much more important things to get upset about in life rather than focusing on the negative side of my chosen forms of entertainment.
