For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...

Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch. My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding. UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

  • Lol because gjallarhorn became the biggest crutch in the game, and things must move on just because it was good in year 1 doesnt mean it has to be good in year 2

  • It's progression think about life, nothing lives forever, everything goes away eventually. It's refreshing to have to use different weapons, it's a new experience. And with any game that has levels and classes, when an expansion comes out the previous weapons are replaced with stronger ones. That's how it is, I'm sure it also has to do with gjallarhorn being just about everyones goto weapon for like bosses and solar burn things, it has also prevented a lot of people from raids and PoE for not having the jellyhorn. It essentially divided a community into "people that have gjallarhorn" and "people that don't have gjallarhorn". I'm all for a new experience and I'm okay with leaving gjally behind.

  • Because there will be new weapons that step up an take their place. If they let everything come through people will just use the same stuff for ever instead of using the new weapons. It's about progression. Just give the new weapons/items a chance

  • I just don't really grow a "relationship" with my exotics. I use different weapons all the time. And I'll continue that in TTK.

  • OMG I didn't think about the ramifications of this!!! Kidding. For me, I really enjoy acquiring and learning new guns. Of course I could do that either way, but this will prevent me from just 'falling back' on my old standbys.

  • Fine with new weapons as that means it's going to change the game around. If the community wasn't so toxic with regards to must have blah blah blah and doo dah, maybe gally would have come too. But imagine you play the new content and all you got was red death again rather than sexy yr2 weapon. Assume Rng tables will not be including yr1 exotics except in the current raids. That would be dissapointing.

    • I just want to know the reasoning behind only bringing some exotics to Taken King, either do all or none.

1.) A lot of these weapons caused controversy. 2.) They never said they'd be left in the dust totally. They could always be brought back in later on. Otherwise, what's the point in the blueprints? 3.) They're probably leaving them out so they can take time and figure out how to balance them properly. 4.) New weapons. I'm excited for them. I don't like being pressured into using exotics. "Use your ghorn!". "Hunger works just fine..." Also, I'm going to throw up if I hear my Fatebringer fire one more time.

    • Its a normal thing for games to move on. Usually MMOs. While we can debate weather destiny is fps, mmo, rpg, whatever, this practice of moving on to stronger new things and leaving the old behind is the norm for tons of RPG MMOs. In summery: This is how it goes, its logical, take it or leave it.

    • Im fine with it but I'm used to playing games like world of Warcraft where it can take months to get the right weapon or cape you want so it doesn't bother me in the slightest...... I however can see why people that aren't used to it would be irritated

    • I'm fine with having to use different things. Gjally was a blast (heh) to get and play with during year 1 but after a while it got to the point where I relied on it to much. I want to see what TTK offers first before I run back to the wolfpack rounds.

    • I don't understand the logic in folks saying because their tired of using the same weapon or gally makes it easy mode. No one is forcing you to use those weapons. lol If gally makes it easy mode then use a heavy machine gun. Equip. some blue armor, make it challenging for yourself. If that's what you want to do, just do it. Don't be FORCED to play a certain way, choose for yourself. One of the comments below was ''If I kept my old guns I'd just use those instead of trying the new ones.'' Really?? Folks can't police their selves and have to be told what to do? Makes no sense to me. Im not trying to argue or put anyone down. It's just a game and I'm going to play it and have fun either way, but those excuses above are really reaching.... Again only my opinion. I don't take any of this personally and hope to play with all of ya on this new raid coming out.

        • Because I'm tired of using these weapons! I got all of them fairly easy. Had ghorn icebreaker and fatebringer since October of last year. I'm ready to move on. Every dlc has been the same for me. New missions take about an hour to beat then raids all you do is ghorn everything. I want to go into this new dlc with no crutch and feel like I'm starting out weak

          • Ghorn had to be frozen, in fairness. so many groups only allow others to participate based on whether or not they have ghorn, this reliance made a portion of the community highly toxic. By freezing the ghorn they clearly hope to relieve this situation. i am disappointed that my guns are now for all intents worthless but things must move on and evolve, i guess. If i buy TTK then i will aim to acquire newer gear and move on from what i had

Because in all honesty, the gally NEEDED to be made useless. If bungie didn't just leave old gear in the past, it would become even harder to store our gear and we would have more people bitching about vault space. No matter what gets left behind, people will bitch, but in the long run, bungie made the right call! Edit: don't get me wrong, I am sad to see OTHER exotics go, but I think gally was, at least, the right choice. Hard light was unobtainable for me, and when I got it after 30 weeks of grinding, I was sad because of how useless it had become. I want the buff they are giving hard light to not be in vain.

            • For the purpose of having a good discussion, I guess for me, playing MMO games my whole life. I'm used to this. In games like WOW or Ragnarok, or any other MMO, you do the raids, get the gear, then hang out on the top till new content comes out. Then you replace you old awesome gear, with better gear.. Obviously some exotics will be upgradeable through the new "blueprint" feature. But for this left behind it just feels natural to me. Honestly, using the same gun for every activity. For ten years sounds boring to me (yes I know I don't have to use it, but when it's the quickest way to kill a boss, why wouldn't you?). I respect people's opinion when they say they feel shit in for all their hard work however. It's hard to look at a years worth of work, only to have it be useless. Especially when RNG has been so unforgiving, and many of us hunted gear with the perfect stats, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. People are either open to change, or they aren't, I'm not here to judge, but it doesn't bother me, cause it's normal to me.

I guess because I recently got a new job, I'm getting married in a week, about a month ago a friend passed away, I forgot to put my juice back in the fridge last night and I think I got a pimple coming in. You know, real things.

            • Because I'll finally have weapons competing for my heavy slot. And I'd love to see newer better things. Evolution in a game is uncomfortable but once we all get used to the new mechanics and weapons well likely be very satisfied. I'd say just wait and see what all we have coming after he launch to make a decision on wether you like it or not

            • It served it's purpose. Plain and simple. It's time to move on. Some are coming so lets enjoy those and keep the oldies as trophies. Maybe someday we can bring them back when Bungie learns how to make better guns. PS let me keep my white suros
