For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...

Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch. My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding. UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

  • I had a moment of silence yesterday for my Ghally, but I think until people actually use the new weapons, no one should bitch about it. That's like having an old girlfriend who was great in the sack, and prejudging the new girlfriend before you've ever done the deed. Obviously if the new one is lame, you'll want the old one back, but until it happens, save your judgement.

    • I thought you could infusion there attack up, either way with the light level now it's only about 97%power, that's a 3% attack drop, not a major difference

    • Because it will get boring... That it's, easy answer. Do you ever think why you stopped (for example) playing FarCry 4? Or Hardline? Because they never evolved "Frozen in Time. How many times can you win with the same gun without it becoming repetitive? This is nothing but a good move for Destiny, most games get stale quickly because you find the most OP load-out and yes you wreck shit and complete the game then what? It's done, no new toys and eventually you end up never going back to said game.

    • I just don't see how its a big deal. Weapons become obsolete, you sigh and find better ones. There are going to be plenty of guns, find new ones you like. If you don't want to grind to find those guns then why even play destiny.

They targeted at the new players or causal. So what this is teaching us is that don't grind and play as causal and you will get everything eventually. That is if you are staying with destiny......

Go ahead throw a fit but I'm holding on to a few of those just in case. If one things been made clear. NOTHING IS CERTAIN AND NEVER AGAIN JUST ISNT TRUE Patience young Grasshopper

    • Because it's the way man. In most mmo type games (it is an mmo TYPE game, rng) this is how it goes. And I come from an fps background. It's fun playing new weapons. I understand that we "could" still use new weapons, but there were instances in this game where lfg was "gjallarhorn or gtfo" and that's a shitty way to build a community. If things are more even, you get to use what you like, not what is "needed". And change! I got so sick of fatebringer, gjallarhorn and a special For every pve instance in the game. I haven't used my fate for weeks. I try to avoid my horn, when I'm not time restricted, as often as possible. I can't wait!

    • Just like in WoW you had weapons that were extremely powerful that took forever to get and then either the next expansion or the one after its outclassed by something better.

    • Because MMO like games do this all the time. I like that there will even be tiers among the exotics. You know, like every other category in the game.

    • Because I'm ready to seek out and collect the new exotics. Plus remember, all year one guns fully leveled are still great until you get beyond lvl 35-36 enemies.

    • Don't care about the guns, but I will be sad about the armor. Variety of subclass builds will decrease, which isn't a good thing in my opinion. That goes against the goal of having personality for end game characters.

Well, I'm tired of people talking about it like it's so special that nothing else matters. Why make a big deal about gjallarhorn instead of naming the other exotics. In my personal opinion, every exotic should be upgraded in year 2 except ghorn. That weapon had its time.

    • Because everything changes with time - either you change with it or you get left behind. Just like in life, new, better and improved things come out to replace its predecessor ( just like weapons in the military ) sure it's cool to use them but when things get hairy you want the latest and greatest to give you an edge. So keep the gjally and break it out when you feel nostalgic ... But evolve .... It's been going on since time began

    • Well tbh I am sick of gally, everyone uses it including myself and I'm happy to see other exotic become a priority. Also I doubt this is permanent. I can easily the exotics that were left behind being upgraded at a later time. That could be later in TTK or a later DLC. In the end I would rather focus on the new content instead of whining that I can't have the old stuff be the best.

      • I remember when HoW dropped bungie did say the vex and necrocasum were not going to be upgradable so I was shocked to find out more exotics being left

      •
other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time"
This isn't necessarily true. It came across to me that they were leaving it open for other year one exotics to possibly be brought up at later dates. I imagine that they are intentionally leaving gally and icebreaker behind for the time being so we experience some of the new weapons. I would find it hard to believe that the weapon that is pretty much the face of the franchise will never be useful again after only the first year. That being said, i also realize that this is just a video game, and that i don't really care if any exotics or previous weapons are brought forward, because, like i said, it is just a video game. These weapons are nothing more than a few lines of code that are processed by a computer. Its really not that big of a deal, and any one who has so close of a relationship to a digital weapon that they are legitimately mad at bungie for doing this should probably work on building relationships in their actual life, and get out of the gaming world for some time.

      • As I posted on a different thread yesterday: These threads remind me of all the ultra conservatives who want to return to the "halcyon" days of the 50's and 60's as opposed to adapting and dealing with the world the way it is now. The times, they do change. You have the space in your vault to marvel at "what was" while still getting new stuff. Seriously this is not a biggie.

      • I once had a blue auto rifle I liked. It actually came along with me through most of the campaign. I then found a legendary one that was better. It was sad but old trusty blue got the shard button. True story but the point is this. I had a good weapon I liked the found something better obvious choice was to use the better one damage wise. Now that legendary auto I replaced by the suros when I got it. Why does it need to end? Why can't I hunt the next best thing? Kind of boring to use the same weapons. I think that is what most people feel. Not to speak for them but it's what I've seen given a general consensus.

      • I'm a day one player and only got my ghorn last week from xur and from my experience, that thing is a crutch it simply deals way too much damage. Is it a blast (pun intended) to use of course, but then it becomes almost pointless to use any other exotic efficiency wise. The past week that's the only exotic I have been using, and it makes things so much easier, but in all honesty I have missed using other exotics and I actually have more fun when equiping other weapons (mainly lord of wolves, for some reason I love that gun) and not just gallying the hell out of everything. With the news of it becoming irrelevant (its still to be determined how irrelevant as given the new light system) I was actually relieved as I could go back to switching weapons around and not feel self-conscious about loosing efficiency in the game. Bungie need to deliver this time around, from what I have read they will include better mechanics in battles and not just bullet sponges that made the ghorn shine even more so I am fine with it being left behind. I have played a lot of rpg games and having to ditch a weapon for a better one is part of the journey, this rpgesque characteristic of destiny it what makes it stand out from other fps and as such you have to deal with the fact that you will have to leave some things behind to upgrade to better more powerful gear, and honestly, at least for me it makes it even more exciting. However I disagree on some of the decisions, for example, raid exotics, vex and necrochasm, I think should be upgradable, these are in part trophy weapons that we should always be able to carry around at every level content, plus they are not game breaking guns so we wouldn't be playing not as intended. And come on, the necrochasm was useless before this coming buff, let us play with it a bit in end game content. As for some other guns being left behind, I don't care, we had a year to play with them, granted some rng luck but its time to move on; would I have loved to have the ghorn from the second week when xur first sold it? Of course but I'm happy to see what new things bungie have in store for us, I actually think they will deliver this time as the destiny beta seems to be finally over
