For people who are fine with gally ( and one year exotics) being left behind...

Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch. My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding. UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

  • Destiny weapons are like women, you use one for a year, and when you get board of her, you go to new ones

    • Other than that the ramifications would be greater if they where brought along, I would say that most are only temporarily being left behind.

    • I guess I'm ok with moving on to something new and refreshing. Yes the gally took me forever to get, but I'm ready to see what's to come on Destiny's second chapter. Who knows maybe their will be a greater heavy or perhaps not. However, change is good and I can't wait to see what's to come.

    • They are year one exotics, they can still be used to great affect in year one content. I don't see a problem, as long as they give us some decent weapons.

    • I think that the amount of exotics should be reasonably small, if u have too many, they lose their special feeling, imagine having like 30 exotic primaries, it would get pretty stale and it has to be extremely hard doing other exotics that you have incentives to use when gjallarhorn is so exteemely good

    • They're viable in y1 content and crucible. I had plenty of time to enjoy most of these guns, and a little less time with others, but this is a game. When you say you worked hard I understand but getting ghorn doesn't entitle you to be all mighty and powerful forever until destiny is over. The page has turned, hourglass is turned over, etc yadda yadda. So now we can enjoy the hunt and discovery all over again, but you don't get to just upgrade all your old crap and go back to plinking away with ib/bh/ghorn

    • I never grinned for any Exotic Weapon or armor as there was no sure way of getting one. Not counting the exotics that are tied to bounties. In my opinion wanting to have all exotic weapons/armor be able to move up with you means there is no reason to try other exotic weapons/armor. Don't get me wrong weapons like the Necro and vex are a grind, really the only two that are. and with the Necro being as bad as people say, it should upgrade.

    • There are no ramifications, that's how these type of games work. You grind to collect; use whatever you've collected for that time period of the game's life; then when the game moves on in life, to higher levels, you repeat the process. It's not bungie's fault that it seems a lot of people that are playing destiny dont have experience at these type of games, and became so attached to a year 1 weapon in a planned 10 year game. That's all on the players. I've enjoyed gally like the next guardian, but i'm fine with it being left behind. I'll still have the memories of enjoyment i created using it, i'll still have at least 1 in the vault, and i'll still use from time to time, but it's time to move on. Just how i used other weapons to beat everything in year 1 before i got gally, i'll use other weapons to beat everything in year 2 without gally or until i find a new 'gally'. I suggest others do the same.

    • I get where you're coming from, however, once people figured out what Gjhallahorne could do; the gameplay became stale. Everyone wanted everyone else to have it so they could walk into a match "burn the boss" and get their reward; skipping most of the gameplay that was to offer. Icebreaker was a very similiar tool and it's used as such. I would rather they balance these weapons more accordingly instead of "freezing" them, but I understand leaving them behind. People should have to (and get to) play the game. Not to mention the elitist atmosphere some of these exotics created in the community.

    • I know exactly why I want them left behind. I want variety and new things. I want the community to realize that, in order for this game to progress, some guns need to stay in the past. I want to be able to inspect my buddies and see different weapon combinations, not the same load out. Things change, and this change is for the better.

    • Some I'm ok with, some I'm less ok with. I can work fine without Ghorn, only really wanted one to make Crota easier. I've only used it in PoE to burn bosses. In those two things the damage will stay the same and nothing will change obviously. As long as the upcoming bosses wont be extreme bulletsponges, the Ghorn wont even be missed. However I always carried and used my Icebreaker. It's my favourite Exotic. I'm sad to see it being possibly held back. I'm disappointed that the Raid exotics probably wont be joining us either, as they still are special. Just rarely been useful in the game at all. Specially the Necro, since it's getting a huge boost in 2.0.

      • They are nerfing the guns which need to be nerfed (like Gjallarhorn and Icebreaker). I don't think they should keep carrying gear over from one year to the next. I have felt pretty stale of the last year constantly keeping the same go-to weapons in inventory slots. Don't get me wrong, Gjallarhorn, Thorn, VoC, WoC, etc. are all great weapons, but one of the best parts about games like Destiny, in my opinion, is the sense of progression and getting more powerful. If the powerful guns in the game keep getting upgraded, it doesn't set the game up for long term success. If I am still keeping my exotic slot reserved for Gjallarhorn for the next 9 years when I am pushing PVE content, then it's going to get pretty boring. I would rather see a new mix of weapons come out and have to figure out how to min/max the new era of weapons rather than constantly relying on the old. Part of the fun of these type of games for me is the min/maxing and evolving the character with the changing scenarios the game brings on through major updates. I would like to put one big caveat on what I am saying. Bungie needs to really focus on making weapons and armor which are relevant for the content we are doing in order to make the switch and the min/maxing worthwhile. I think they tried to do that with PoE, but with all the old gear carrying forward they missed the mark. If PoE had been the end all content and delivered good entertainment, then people would want to play it more and min/max accordingly. This also goes hand in hand with content being difficult enough to merit the min/max. I digress. I believe there is a good way to phase out gear in favor of new gear, but Bungie as of yet has not met the criteria to make me care to min/max at the highest level of current play nor have they made gear which is actually interesting enough to want to seek out. When they do that, they will have a much better formula in my opinion.

      • Look at it this way. The taken king as a whole new separate game. Why does COD come out with new maps and a new game every year. It gets stale playing the same game, using the same weapons. Camping in the same corner. Why is there 15 final fantasies? Time moves on. You can still play vanilla destiny any time with all the exotics you have accumulated but if you want to play more destiny and find some more weapons and armor that will be just as fun to play with you have to try different strikes and raids and new gear. I think it keeps things fresh. After a while though it's all the same, you will eventually find another game that is more fun for you to play and that's it. Why is there 5 gta's? I mean things need to change, that's true in life and in games. The past can always be revisited though.
