Where Did God Come From?

It is true that supernatural causes are a subject outside of science, but intelligent versus unintelligent causes is a subject very much within science. For example, forensic scientists and pathologists regularly determine whether a death was due to natural causes or intelligent causes. If somebody dies of a purported heart failure, and then they do an autopsy on the body and find signs of arsenic poisoning, they say this was not a death by natural causes; it was a poisoning. That is perfectly legitimate as a scientific inquiry. Now, if the intelligent cause turns out to be supernatural, that's a determination that is outside of science, but as you can see, the self-evident fact of the matter is that intelligence is not a determination that's outside of science. It's in fact the regular business of science, like deciding whether a drawing on a cave wall is a painting by prehistoric cavemen or a product of natural erosion and chemistry on a rock wall. God, by definition, created everything (Jn. 1:1), including the time dimension that we exist in; however, He isn't affected by time (2 Ptr. 3:8); therefore, He doesn't exist in time; thus, He does not require a cause. BEFORE ANYONE COMMENTS, I would like you to state your opinion with a source, and I would have loved it if you at least read the OP. All truth is outside everyone's personal, political, and religious opinion. So don't state anything that is literally from your opinion.

  • I'm atheist, but I still wonder where everything came from. If you really think deeply about it, where the -blam!- did everything come from? A computer simulation? Yeah, then where did the beings that made the simulation come from? From a God? Then where did God come from? Everyone came from an infinitely small point in space? Cool, but how was all that made in the first place? The "Universe is Infinite" theory? ....But did it all come from? How could everything just be there. It doesn't make since with current science. (Entropy, anyone?) Obviously, our current understanding of the Laws of Physics are wrong because they break down the closer you get to a Black Hole's even horizon. In the end, we'll probably never know for sure how the universe began and where it all came from. Everything will forever be just a theory. And that's a little scary, if you think about it. Science might eventually be able to explain everything that's happening in the universe around you, but it will never be able to explain with 100% certainty where everything came from.

It's entirely possible that you, I, and everyone else, simply cannot and never will comprehend that in its entirety. Just because we have the capacity to think does not mean we have the capacity for infinite understanding. Compare it to "normal" physics vs. quantum physics. Shit makes sense at our level, shit doesn't make as much sense at the lower levels. We don't expect to see one tiger in two places at the same time, so we assume one thing can not be in two places at the same time, and that this makes sense across the entirety of physics. Quantum physics tells us differently. Likewise, Past vs. Future makes some sense to us here, but it probably has no meaning regarding "When/Where did the original thing come from". /layman thoughts

            • As a man who is religious, I admit that there is no physical evidence of God existing outside of the testimonies of those who claim to have seen him. People are often confused by the way this whole God thing works and can't wrap their minds around the idea of it. The answer to that confusion is quite simple. Atheists, I'm talking to you, say, hypothetically that God does exist. By the definition of who God is and how he is described throughout scriptural texts, he is literally an all-knowing being. If he is an all-knowing being then of course to him it makes sense and of course we, as humans, would literally be incapable of comprehending his vastness due our being mere mortals who will never be able to learn all that he knows in within the span of our lifetimes

            • Religion is an opinion. There's literally no way to prove one side or the other. And there's no way to prove it can't be proven since you can't prove it can or can't be. All and all I wish people would stop turning to it for answers. The only half good it does is planting a half decent moral compass in some people. But it's not worth the trade off imo.

            • Honestly I don't try to pressure people into believing God is real. But, I can't see why people won't at least try and see either way. I can see how he can't be real, but there are reasons he can be real too. He can be just as real as he is unreal. In reality, does it matter if we divulge ourselves in the greater scheme of things, whether it is Mother Nature of God our Father? Accept that it could happen either way, there is so much we do not understand in this world. We can't even understand the quantum dimensions, why concern ourselves with power we cannot even comprehend in our feeble human minds?

                    • This doesn't explain why a self admittedly jealous God would allow millenniums worth of worship to other man made deities before finally setting the record straight by having one man be born to tell his story and a few others write about it. Whoopty-blam!-ingdooda.

                        • God came from our early, primitive perceptions and interpretations of natural phenomenon that we couldnt understand or explain. We gave the universe a personality. Lets call this the 'original god'. Through time, different cultures took this personality and shaped it to fit their values, Even splitting it into several personalities or gods. This is the basis of nearly every religion on earth. Thats where 'god' came from
