Yeah, that is bugging me too.
Luckily, it looks like they have taken the grind away SIGNIFICANTLY. Less nodes, and the stacked nodes upgrade at the same time. Hallelujah.

Yeah. However, the new exotics from House of Wolves, Queenbreakers' Bow, for example, still take a long time to level up even though it has less nodes. It's still a significant amount of XP you have to dump into them. It's another way to put artificial replay value into the game, and I'm not a fan of the decision to do this. With all the new questing and stuff to do, I hope it makes grinding a little more fun.

I never have received a HoW exotic (PoE crashes whenever I play; luckily, I am upgrading from 360 to One soon), so I don't know how bad the leveling times are. But at least armor comes with the exotic perk already unlocked.
