I don't trust matchmaking because people already go afk in crucible and normal strikes. They even do it in the weekly heroic. If it was optional, I would be okay with that but I would never use it. The difference between going to find someone to help versus matchmaking is that you already know this person is doing this for a reason and not likely to go afk the entire game. Also there's checkpoints in raids so if someone does dropout, you're going to have to find someone to replace him anyway. How many players were looking to skip the confluxes? How many players just wanted Templar checkpoints for fatebringer? How many players were looking for Crota checkpoints because they didn't need to do the other parts? Even now players just want to kill Skola's instead of doing the entire PoE. Matchmaking would only be used for players that want to do a fresh run but you can't trust that entirely. Plus most players will leave if they are with a team they don't like and if they have to leave early, they are going to have to form their own fireteam to continue from that checkpoint or start over like with PoE. The game really needs a better social and in-game recruiting area.

that is why it is Optional. and it is not only limited to OPMM. yes i know i use this word only but think of it as a Gateway to other ways of forming groups. the thread was to shine light on this issue. so yes. i think we should have Multiple ways of forming groups that suite each individual. just as there are many ways to load~out your character, so should it be with finding groups. :)
