It's clear you don't understand why they do this, why they insist on omitting matchmaking from endgame content.
No it's got nothing to do with teamwork and communication, so get over yourself and get over the idea of playing Destiny the way they intend for you to play it. This is not some noble cause you're fulfilling, it's much less noble a reasoning than that.
The reason they insist on fireteams is because it hits a very simple marketing model. If you want access to endgame content then you cannot do it alone. This way you are more likely to emplore a friend or multiple friends to also buy Destiny in order to facilitate your goal of getting endgame content. That's not just one copy of Destiny sold, it's the sale to you and potentially others you know.
That's all it is; that's why there's no matchmaking in certain activities. It's not for some noble cause of communication, teamwork or warming the hearts of Bungie employees by playing how they envisioned you would -- it's simply to sell more copies of their game.
To not understand that is blind and unintelligent.
