I was not going to be bummed at all if brought back down to 20. The grind would be kind if fun to do again and would get me to play the game longer before I got bored again.

You're not brought down to anything. You are already only level 20 how. Light level will be separated from player level. You will be the same power level, but you player level cap of 20 will now be 40.
