Dear Deej,
So rumor has it that all of the gear and weapons we the year 1 veterans and day 1 players have collected will basically become trash? There is a lot of talk among the community during raids and prison of elders about how it's pointless to be collecting the things we like for their functions, stats, and appearances because none of the year 1 gear and weapons are going to be allowed to ascend to the new highest values. I would like to know if this holds any truth personally? But I can tell you this Mr. Deej, should you take away our beloved collection of weapons and gear and render them useless, you will lose your year 1 foundation gamers. And the word on the street of your "10 year plan" for Destiny will quickly turn into a "10 minute flop". Personally I will be hunting for the coolest new gear that suits my play styles and adding them to my collection, but if that which I have grown to love now is null and void, I will not be spending any more money on this game after I try "The Taken King". The logic behind this is very simple, I do not want to spend $20-$40 every 2-3 months for more content that forces me to throw away all of my collection and start from scratch. I would imagine I am not alone in these sentiments, so Destiny community, please read and support this forum post and lets see what we can do about getting the game we want presented to us. Thank you all for your time and lets keep things positive and get heard!! Good day to everyone :).

I agree with OP. Let use keep ascending gear. Increase the Poe difficulty to 36, 40, and 41. We will need to still use etheric light to upgrade gear. If you have some in the vault, some, good for you. I have some Vanilla armor that I kept doe ascetics. Let's me keep using it. Let people keep doing raids to get weapons. Ascending gear makes the game more repayable. Bungie you did good with HoW. Don't back track now.

I'm not really that surprised since bungie made it so I can't use auto rifles reliably. I'm also surprised bungie didn't expect people to collect weapons in this type of game. As long as exotics keep upgrading then okay, raid weapons I'll always be able to get again. It'll just be troublesome.
-
Keep Raid weapons and Exotics trash the rest it's as simple as that.
-
It's just progress, sure it sucks, but why eat the same sandwich for ten years when you can have a new one every now and then
-
Personally what I think they should do is add ascended versions of the guns to the current loot tables. That way not everyone is using ascended old guns, it pushes people to continue playing old raids and it allows people to keep their old guns. And to clarify; the loot tables would still include the non-ascended versions of the guns too, so the chance of gaining an fatebringer (ascended), black hammer (ascended), etc etc would be very slim.

They confirmed that year 1 gear will not be ascended but deej and cozmo does said to no dismantle year 1 weapons and armor as they will serve a purpose in TTK and they are being secretive about that purpose thats all i know
-
Bungie doesn't listen. But it's good to know so many people in the community hate their decisions.
-
The end game activity legendary weapons, those from Vault of Glass, Crota's End, Iron Banner, Prison of Elders, and Trials of Osiris - should all be ascendable throughout the entire lifespan of Destiny. In many cases they are better then the Exotics anyway. They are trophies we've earned for 100's of hours of grinding the hardest activities in the game. They should never be made obsolete. The crap from the tower vendors sure, but not these end game activity legendaries!
-
Don't dismantle anything. When bungie realizes no one is playing CE and VoG they will allow upgrading of those weapons.
-
I agree with you, however: Please try to use line breaks to make reading your posts easier. And unfortunately we are just screwed when it comes to pricing. Consider it your monthly subscription, or however long each DLC proves to last. But I would NOT pre order TTK. Definitely wait until it drops for reviews and gameplay.
-
My question to you is, how long and how many LV300 or VoG weapons did you use when CE dropped? My guess would be a few during the first couple time you raided, and then they were put down. TTK will be no different. The whole ascension process via Etheric Light was a bad move on their part and they have realized it!

From what I've read, it's just the legendary gear that you won't be able to ascend. You will still be able to level up exotics. Also, the level cap will no longer be based on Light Levels. So that will automatically render your armor useless. Personally, I thoroughly enjoy using my fatebringer, vision of confluence, blackhammer etc. However, I don't want to still be using these same weapons in Destiny 2 or 3 or 4. I don't want to have to keep re-ascending my weapons and armor over and over. I want better weapons Destiny 2. Better armor. Better ways of leveling them up and keeping them current with the dlc content that comes for out those games. And I would expect there to be new weapons and gear for Destiny 3 and again for 4. Everyone takes the "10 year plan" and thinks it's all just going to be the the same gear from year one all the way through year 10, and that's just boring. Why would they do that? What game franchise do you get upgradable gear in the 1st game that continuously ascends through 10 years of games? Grinding for the gear earlier made sense because then you have it for this whole time. Grinding for it now is pointless since you will have roughly another to use it. Current gear will become obsolete but who's to say better gear won't be available?

Late to the party dude. By the way its not a rumor.
