Why do men treat women gamers bad? I legit want true honesty here (open up)

Hey there, I'm a gamer from Texas. I have a legit question I really want to know. After encountering so many rude remarks flirting, or even observing fellow female gamers yelled at/cat called...I really wanna know why a lot if you Lads don't like women? There would be times nothing would happen and yelling name calling and harassment would arise. Almost all of the times the lady gamer werent doing anything and the male would pick at her. Either being sexual or really aggressive. I noticed male gamers would get super mad when she would try to defend herself as if she had no right to defend herself. Then there are the few sweet guys that are super quiet guys. Only 1% percent out of 99 percent. Just tell me a simple sentence of what your attitude towards women is, in the gaming community. Is it Jealousy? Nervousness? No contact with women? Or you just don't like women gaming? Thanks.
im watching he honest ok....
• I've rarely ever seen female gamers harassed, and the few times I had it was a couple of punk kids (who harass literally everyone) making sexual compliments about the girl. Try being called a failed abortion and encouraged to walk into an oven simply for your race. Not fun.

  • Because they: 1) are still kids 2) don't know what respect is 3) didn't accomplish anything irl 4) think it's cool to act like a douche when they are with friends Just like in real life but because it's anonymous most people tend to act worse

  • Don't ask stupid questions. Plus, you tagged this as sexist when you are talking about all men. Men don't attack people, idiots attack people.

Mainly it's the attention thirsty ones that get treated like trash. Then some guys treat them all like trash since the gamer girl image has been slandered. You also have the guys who just discovered the female gender and go creep happy. They also feel like being dicks as they aren't face to face. Familiar with the term "keyboard warrior". Act tough because they are behind screens. Similar mentality is on consoles as well. I don't get it either. I Recommend not posting things that have "I'm a girl gamer________" if you are a girl gamer. Tends to annoy people as its viewed as fishing for attention. Mostly is used for that.

    • Lol I don't usually trash talk in games, I just leave the match if I'm playing with idiots. That being said just like male gamers there are plenty of idiot female gamers. I'm talking about about those gals who always have groups of guys following them around like puppies. The bitch says something and the guys are like "Yeahhh" and "right" and "dughhh?!". Female gamers get a bad rep because of those dumb bitches. The same reason gamers in general get a bad rep because of the basement dwelling fatasses and dumb 10 year olds.

      • I think it's more a matter of what you hear and what gets noticed. Say a girl plays for a couple of hours and in that time she comes in contact with 50 different guys. If 1 or 2 of those guys acts like an ass then those are the guys she'll remember, not the other 48 who acted normal or said nothing. Those same guys might even act that way towards guys, but because they would be using generic insults towards guys instead of sexist remarks, it becomes less memorable and expected. I'm not saying that it's not an issue or that girls are playing victim or anything. Just that it's the kind of thing that tends to stand out more making it seem so common.

      • I have no problem with it. I actually get excited when I see a girl gamer (no, not THAT kind of excited, you perverts). It's like finding a shiny Pokémon. Rare and fun.

        • That's like asking why a 5th grader would push a girl. The answer is normally...
because he likes her and doesn't know how to express it.
Either that, or he's trying to show off for his friends. I feel like most guys get really nervous playing with me (a grill). Whether they think it's because I'm going to judge them harshly or because they haven't encountered a female gamer before or they're just shy people, I don't know. Sexual comments, to me, are mostly playful. "Get back in the kitchen." Is a common opener, which is fine. Sometimes used in a funny context, and sometimes used aggressively. You simply respond with "But why? There's no men here to make a sandwich for, just little boys." And then roll on with the process. I think they're assuming everyone joining will be male, because that's the norm in gaming, so having a girl there is like "SURPRISE, BITCHES!" One guy thought I was a squeaker, because I wasn't talking a whole lot. When he aggressively asked me how old I was, I laughed and answered "29. And a chick." His entire demeanor changed. He stopped being an asshole and started stuttering, because he had never played with a girl before. I told him that I was just like a dude, except for the boobs and other hardware.

          • *Sigh* Not this again... Like I've said so many times, it's not a gender issue, it's a community issue. People feel like they can say whatever they want online & not have any consequences. People use anonymity as a way to say things they wouldn't say to someone if they were face to face. Girls aren't treated any worse then boys are online, it's something that both genders experience equally. It also depends on the game you're playing, the COD community for example, it's made up of most people under the age of 17. These kids tend to think that trolling & being rude online is hilarious. If you can't deal with how people are on the internet, then stay off of it. Don't try to turn it into an something it's not.

            • Okay I might get some hate for this but.....what if girls aren't really being treated as bad as they say and most of them are just drama queens looking for attention? I've never been harassed , hit on or kicked because I'm a girl. I just play, talk shit and have fun just like everyone else and have never had a problem. And IF I were to have a problem I'd chalk it up to people being douchey not me being a girl.

It's because they can do whatever they want as it's anonymous, so they take out whatever aggression on whoever they feel like. If they have issues with women, or if the woman in the lobby stands out as many online games are dominated by men, he will use her as a verbal punching bag. I'm going to say they're probably insecure, or just have no respect for women.

                    • It's as simple as this, (and yes I'm a guy) most guys think that gaming really is meant for guys only, so when they see a girl, they get offended at the chance that a girl might be better than them at gaming, so they take it out on them

                    • I think about how women in the society view themselves. Nine times out of ten women let themselves be treated like crap and they just accept it. I have a theroy that you teach people how to treat you. And if most women allow that, it will be the "common way" per say. It goes beyond just a video game when I say girls in my generation are loosing a lot of self respect. I help people for a living and I hear this comment at least 20 times a day: "I cannot do that, I am a girl. That is a man's job" It is comments like this that teach men how to treat you.

                    • From my own experience, they're usually joking around. I've played with a bunch of females on random groups. My and the groups' answers? "Meh, just get the job done." If you legit find someone who's mean, they're either ridiculously insecure, or stupid. Or both.

                    • I think it's mostly joking but there are people out there who are like that. I mean it is really attractive to us if girls like games since there aren't a lot like that. I would never treat you like those people would though. That's just wrong

                      • I don't think I've ever disrespected a girl on a game... There was this one time where there was a girl (around 17) being awful to this black kid (around 12) calling him nîgger and stuff like that and I calmly and respectively roasted her ass into the ground
