Separate line of questions now. In the opening cutscene of Destiny, we see astronauts from "current day" landing in Mars, to presumably get the first look at the traveler. Now the traveler sits over earth, quiet and (damaged from fights? I can't remember the wording the speaker used). Was the traveler on Mars due to it having just entered our solar system and it was making its way towards earth?

  • The Traveler first stopped in our solar system (as far as we know) around two centuries (I believe that's the timeline) from now on Mars. In the process, it terraformed the entire planet as the fireteam was deployed to it. It stayed there for some time. I believe Freehold was prosperous while the Traveler was there. Then, the Darkness came. At some point during the Collapse, the Traveler left Mars to go to Earth where we established our final bastion of defence, now known as the Last City. It ha remained there ever since its sacrifice in the final moments/hours/days/weeks/etc of the Collapse.

  • When you say terraformed the planet as the fireteam was deployed to it. What do you mean, the traveler teraformed the planet? How come, terraforming is done in order to make life sustainable in an area. Was it making Mars sustainable for us? Who was in this fireteam?

  • The Traveler terraformed all planets within the Reef's boundaries, Europa, and perhaps some other locations. But yes, it changed the locations to make them more hospitable. For us? Yes, but also for war. The original fireteam was made up of three (what I believe were) Russian cosmoneaughts on the Ares I. I do not know their names. The planet was shifting and changing as they ventured to the Traveler. Mountains grew and rain fell as oxygen and thick clouds filled the air and sky.

  • One more question for now. If the speaker speaks for the traveler, at one points is the traveler speak for itself? Or was it able to communicate with us? Or the speaker's predecessor(s). Is (was) it self aware?

  • We aren't sure. There's no history to support either side. All I know is that the Speaker was not the only candidate to be the "Speaker" of the Traveler. Our old Vanguard commander was.
