The default control scheme wasn't to my liking. I had to try a few different ones before it felt comfortable. I will be getting the pro-pad anyway but it was made for this game.
The new abilities are balanced, once you use one it takes a while to recharge it before you can use another. Sprint has been nerfed as if you use it your shields do not recharge until you are stationary. You can evade with thrusters, slide, shoulder charge and ground stomp. Even those these mechanics are new they are balanced and it feel more like Halo than Halo 4 did. Game is faster paced that previous Halo's but is competitive and feels just right.
Equal starts, default load-outs, map control via power weapons and arena gameplay are all back. No ordinance drops or custom load outs either. You have a version of true skill ranking like Halo 2 & 3 which takes into consideration assists (KDA). You need to work as a team to win and friendly fire has been dropped so you won't get scrubs on your team killing you for power weapons anymore.
Tbh it's the most fun I have had playing Halo MP since Halo 3. I am an old school Halo player since 2001 and personally I think the changes 343 have brought into this will allow Halo to dominate.
Now there I'll be those that compare it to AW but they are just trolling as both games are nothing alike.
I recommend playing it first before you buy especially if you don't play for the both the campaign and MP and you just play MP.
Some old school Halo fans don't like change, that's fine and I did feedback this to 343 that they need to have a classic mode to please everyone. Personally I think this game will be huge. 343 have learned from the errors of Halo 4 casualised MP and have added their own twist to an awesome franchise.
I may have missed something as it was a while ago since I played the beta. Look for Lord of Admiral's posts here in #Gaming, he is our resident Halo guru and has outlined changes 343 have made since the beta in one of his many informative posts.
