Who is right when it comes to decisions in the gaming industry? Is the developers, the people who make the game? The publishers, the people who fund and advertise the game, the retailers, the people who sell the game in stores? Or the consumer, the people who purchase and play the game?

  • The customer is always right. You can't make everyone happy, but #1 is listening to the people's problems

        • Everyone is right in their own way. The developers are right as it is their game. Creating a game is an artwork and can be a means to express oneself, thus they have the right to create the game how they choose to, other than for the obvious reasons such as it is their hard work that goes into it. Retailers have their right to choose whether they will sell a game in their stores. The consumers have their right to what they wish with the game in which they bought, as they paid for it, as long as it doesn't violate any terms such as using cheats in an online game. They also have the right to their own opinion of the game, and many welcome that as for other consumers, it lets them know whether they should invest in the game, and the developers as the feedback will allow them to improve on future releases. The publishers have their right to advertise the game as they enter into a business relationship with the developers to help them make sales in which they get a profit from.

ESRB. Wouldn't want my hyped-game to turn out to be nothing but a hate-speech spewing pornographic snuff film in the end, now would I?
