I'm glad light is going away. Feeling like you are progressing in gaming makes you accomplished. Having your level tied to gear makes everyone seem the same. Leveling up again to be able to take on Oryx makes this seem more RPGish.
I wonder what level we will be at? 20 with light 34? 34 with light 34? 20 and 20? No confirmation yet from Bungie.

Light isn't going away, light will be relevant still but instead of determining your level it will determine your power.

Max level cap is 40, and it is all through XP, they are removing light levelling from the game.

The gear still has light on it. That will determine how effect you will be at different activity difficulies. Deej talked with IGN yesterday about it. So you can be level 40 but wear all starting gear with no light on it and still probably have a hard time doing certain things.
