Common sense?
I mean your argument is a stretch to anyone old enough to be playing this.
You were warned the character will be deleted. That includes everything that is being carried. It's easier to believe that every thing with said character will be deleted than things automatically vaulting themselves. Considering vault space is severely limited, why would they do an auto transfer to vault?
I don't know... Some things in the forums make me scratch my head.

:) Just to clarify, my post isn't a rant or a complaint, just a suggested improvement - it was frustrating at the time, but it's just a game after all. If you were unable to transfer armor, inventory, weapons between characters then I'd agree with you, as those would be part of that character, but I'm not aware of it alluding to everything being carried. Much like when you uninstall or delete something from your PC, you usually get a warning of associated files, it could simply warn you or at least clarify that deletion of the character included all currently equipped inventory, etc. Just a suggestion, don't fret.
