Broman said earlier he wasn't going to except $1 donations any more. He was going to raise it to $3. His logic behind this was people donate $1 just to troll. So raising it to $3 would make it worth reading the message. An people fail to see a problem with streamers.

Funny I happened to be watching that stream. You're not quite saying it right. He said he was thinking about raising it because there was a lot of trolls just donating $1 to get their rude / inappropriate messages on the screen. He wasn't doing it to ask for more money. In fact it could actually hurt him in the long run. These trolls wind up canceling their donation anyway. It's just another jerk trying to ruin something.

Not exactly. You're making it seem like he's raising the minimum so that people have to donate more because he's greedy. And/or because donating only $1 is trolling. That's not at all what he said.

No I understand that raising it, will make some trolls second guess their trolling. How does that not say loads about his personality? To fix a problem he just charges for it. You also said that they can cancel the donation? So how does raising it fix the problem?

In my opinion, it doesn't. Though I believe most use transactions through PayPal ( or similar ). If that behavior was regularly repeated, I could see them not giving the refund as it maybe seen as fraudulent or something. So the end result may be what they wanted. Trolls less likely to gamble with their money. He also didn't say he was definitely doing it. Sounded like a quick thought on a possible fix. After considering it, he probably wouldn't go through with it. Kind of getting away from the point though. You made it sound like he was doing it to be greedy or like he was begging or forcing people to pay etc. He was trying to think of a way to punish trolls and make the stream more enjoyable for the vast majority. That's a good thing right?

Most have a pop up when a donation comes through with their message. So they get some kind of acknowledgement either way. The streamers do their best ( mostly ) to ignore it and make it go away. But the "damage" is already done. Probably should have a type of review system first before they're posted. More work for them ( or a mod ) but probably the best way.
