What I'm Most Excited for In TTK

With all the discussion of the awesome stuff revealed today in the Game Informer article, I feel like a lot of us have focused a lot on leaving our Year One gear behind and I think one aspect in particular should be getting more attention. Ever since I got my first Grimoire cards in the Alpha, I was fascinated by them. They're so fundamental to actually understanding what the heck is going on in Destiny's universe, and a large number of them are very engaging and well written. Unfortunately, a lot of them require spending hours roaming around planets and story missions to find, which can become a bore. So I was extremely pleased with the announcement of two things in particular to come with The Taken King. 1: Being able to pull up your Ghost (which I now get to call the Nolan Beyond instead of Dinklebot) and have him give a little bit of lore context for bits of the environment and missions. I feel like this is something that, if done right, could make the world of Destiny a much more exciting world to explore and discover. With the replacement of Peter Dinklage in favor of Nolan North, I think we'll be able to stand hearing our Ghost's voice all the time. 2: Narrative quests. Now, not only was hearing about the amount of quests we'll be getting exciting for me, but one thread of info in particular got me really excited. Specifically, when they announced that one quest would have you travel to the Vault of Glass to discover more about Praedyth. Immediately, I realized the doors this opens up. Imagine the stories this has the opportunity to tell! We could follow in the footsteps of Jaren Ward, Shin Malphur, Saint-14, the Iron Lords, Dredgen Yor, and any of the people we've either only heard passing mention of or have only heard of through the Grimoire. Overall, I'm convinced that discovering the lore of the game will be a much more exciting and fulfilling venture when the Taken King arrives.
