Trials and PoE pointless now
Since its been confirmed that there's no ascension for legendaries from year one, what's the point in playing trials or anything for 34 gear? I honestly see no reason to play anything but nightfall now until ttk, does anyone else feel like this?

3 RepliesYou are exactly right, you grind for gear to have exclusively. Just finished getting the full set of new Iron banner gear. What a waste of time. I have 18 etheric light, all pointless. I have invested a lot of hours in this game but to make it all null and void makes it easier to quit at Taken King. Love the game, but hate when "wasting my time" makes itself manifest in leaving everything behind you work for. I would rather waste my time and keep what I have earned.

2 RepliesLet's not forget that when TDB dropped, vanilla weapons weren't ascendable to the new damage level, yet VOG weapons lorded over CE. It isn't going to be as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

Some wepeons maybe able to go up a level queens bow has only been out 3 months it'll be a shame to right that off same as hawk moon and Carlo for the Xbox.

6 RepliesHad I known this before HOW came out I would have skipped playing any of the content more than one time. I would have gotten the dead ghosts, beaten skolas, gone flawless once, collected any grimore (all of which was done the first two weeks) and then not played any of it until TTK. This is gonna happen again next year too. Everything we worked to earn will be gone. If these new weapons were supposed to provoke us to try new things that's how it should have been done. If they're really so much better we would have decided that on our own. They need to allow ascension of everything no matter what. Wasting our time with a shit DLC is kind of an insult

PoE was pointless pretty early on. Especially the Skolas Fight. Now, IF they make it so that all exotics can move into the future with TTK, they can save all older content from being completely pointless.

1 ReplyI may do the nightfalls, but otherwise I'm done with destiny until the expansion. No longer any need for etheric light, no point in doing the raids. They made all of year one work irrelevant. Kinda makes me feel irrelevant.

Armor should still be viable seeing as it won't depend on the light system anymore. Weapons however, will eventually be outmoded. At the beginning of TTKs release they should be viable, but once the majority of people start getting NEW legendarys, the current legendary weapons will become underpowered.

There would be no reason to 'ascend' anymore. It sounds like they are totally reworking weapon and gear structure, so, who knows, everything we have now may very well be viable going forward. I am not going to join the pity party just yet. Let's take the wait and see approach (but keep our pitchforks and torches handy, just in case).

Sure. You play because you like the game. There are a few year one weapons that I will not part ways with immediately. As I progress in TTK, I basically want to do a one-for-one on all my weapons. Just my thoughts going in to TTK.

i still want my messenger adept and exotic trials emblem, weapon damage doesn't matter in pvp btw, except for IB and ToO so no need to despair

There's gonna be a season 2 for trials, so there's gonna be season 2 weapons and armor

1 ReplyNot disagreeing but same can be said of both existing raids now. Unless you're doing them for a chance at exotic drops. The way I look at it is, at least I got to do all these activities when they were new. The September kinderguardians may want to play those, but I doubt it. They'll want to level up ASAP to catch up with us. So they'll essentially have content they may never play. Its like with the HoW guardians, some of them don't know how to do most of the raid mechanics. The reason because they have no real interest. Etheric light made it easy for them to reach max level. All they needed was vendor armor and grind for etheric light. I'm not salty over it, I'm just saying they didn't get to experience the raids like I did. If I came into the game starting at HoW I would've done the same lol. Oh well I'll take my old guardian and my mythoclast for a walk in patrol.
