I have 2 humans and an exo all 34
Is there a way I can get the awoken grimoire card without deleting one of my characters?

After The Taken King releases, you will be able to get a consumable in the tower that will bring ANY character to at least level 20 (they haven't said what the level will be yet). That- plus your existing armor- will get you your card.

Unfortunately not. The only way to acquire the card is to make a new character. Which also means you won't have any of your reputation etc. sorry to bring bad news.

I don't think so. I had the same issue and redid my character to get the awoken grimoire card. If you decide to do so, save all your current armor and guns in the vault and buy blue engrams (weapons and armor) now so you can use them when you reach each level so you rank up faster. It took me about 3 days to rank up to level 20 and then I added my armor and weapons back on to be at 34. Good luck.
