[spoiler]I Just hit Rank 5 on my Titan and Warlock and Hunter.
Interestingly, did not fire a single Thorn bullet - Used either The Messenger or Mida in all the matches.
I've equipped the HoW Timur's Lash on my Titan - Destiny Tracker should also confirm the ranking.[/spoiler]

On the brink of rank 5 for my hunter. Literally need one win lol, then I'll start the Titan and if I want the lvl 2 warlock haha. And my matches so far have been excellent in terms of connection.
