People seem to forget, in their rush to make bullshit arguments about how a female-only clan is sexist, that online gaming is largely male dominated, much like many many other aspects of society. If it wasn't, and there had always been a safe place for females to play without fear of being harrassed because of and about their gender, then arguments of that nature might actually hold water. A marginalized group seeking refuge amongst itself and excluding others to ensure that refuge is not any kind of "ism" because it simply would not occur if that group was not marginalized in the first place.

This problem is not Men vs Women.... It's Harassers vs People with functioning brains It just so happens that women are a minority. It just so happens that they are super sensitive about gender insults (if they weren't, none of this would be a problem) Everyone gets harassed. They aren't harassed because they are female, however: because they are so sensitive and the harasser knows it, the harasser will use his best attacks against female gamers ( like me and you use Thorn/TLW in trials) which are gender related insults. It's like this, Defender Titans are more vulnerable to melee fights than the regular guardian. If it is to be fought by a smart guardian, this guardian will try to make the Defender fight in his week ground, thus starting a melee fight. Now you can say that Defender Titans are a minority and are being attacked be long range melee using Warlocks and the Blink Striking Bladedancers. They didn't attack the Defender Titan for being a Defender Titan, they attacked like they attack anyone else. They used their best attacks against the Defender Titan.

And, by the by, women are not a minority. It's actually a pretty even split. "Minority" does not equal "marginalized." The billionaires of the world are a minority group, but they are by no means marginalized. See my point?

Women are a minority in the video gaming community. I don't think this dames of destiny was meant for them to alienate men even if they sort of did. But if they are being harassed as badly as I hear then shame on the losers who either harass women for fun or the guys who just want to make it be known they are being sexist even though it doesn't really matter since it's harming no one

Women are a minority in the gaming world because they're marginalized in our society, not because there are less women in terms of human population. That might seem like splitting hairs, but shit is real. That's all I was saying.

I guess I could see your point, but I think you're failing to take into consideration the fact that women are indeed a marginalized group. Just the fact that you claim that women are more "sensitive" about their gender points to the fact that in this culture a lot of males are raised to think blanket statements like that are accurate in any kind of way, i.e. "women are more sensitive, emotional, bad at math" etc. If you were part of a marginalized group, you too would be sensitive about the thing that marginalized you, which in the case of the topic at hand is gender.

Agreed BiffBadHands. How do we deal with it? Make the sensitive less sensitive/more thick skinned. We don't marginalize more people because some people with same gender did bad things.

Actually it will take less paternalism towards women in general, and continued public support from allies to maintain progress. People need to be outspoken role models and avoid cheap humor that denigrates people.

It might be simplistic, but I think everybody should just be cool. And I've played with a lot of people all over the world that just wanted to be cool and play a game. So it's out there. But some people just refuse to be cool. If I knew how to deal with that, I'd probably be rich and not on Destiny forums. We're guardians. We can crucible and shake hands afterwards, but we can't be against each other. We have to be against the Darkness. Man, I wish an alien invasion would really happen. That's when we'd shine. Us against them, not us against us. That brownie probably kicked in. :salute:

Exactly, if only people would be cool with gender and don't give a damm about it. After all, there are no in game advantages of either race or gender!
