I have the same issues as you aside from the Skyshock map, If the playlist "Combined Arms" is up play it asap ! There is only 3 big maps that get picked almost any time (Skyshock, First Light and Bastion) You do have to play the entire match before you get it rewarded, unlike the other maps that show up when flying to it.
