Keep the crazies from getting guns. Sure, fine, whatever. But it should never limit the general public from exercising their right to bear arms.
I'm looking at you Kalifornia...

"The right to bear arms" What is with you people?
-
What do you mean?
-
The right to bear arms is so silly to me. American culture is so extremist in my eyes.
-
Extremist? Absolutely. I think that's just a defining characteristic. Everything we do is "bigger, better, and badder". Some people here love it, some don't. One extreme to the other. As far as the right to firearms; the original intent was to basically keep our Government in check and stop it from ruling over us like "the powers that be". As you can surely tell we've failed miserably in that regard, but there are some of us that like to hold onto that idea and our way of doing so is keeping our guns. And shooting guns is a whole hell of a lot of fun. So there's that. :)
-
It's really just an excuse though.
-
The Second Amendment is an excuse? I'm not sure what you're referring to, sorry.
-
The second amendment is outdated. It was written hundreds of years ago when the U.S was under attack from Britain. People still take it literally when the stuff written doesn't exactly apply anymore.
-
True we aren't being invaded by the British any longer. But if we start changing things like the second amendment to become more contemporary, whats to stop everything else from changing? And who decides what changes need to be made? Do we as a nation vote on it? Or leave it to politicians? Does the left or right decide what stays and what goes? If we're changing one, why not tweak some others? Free speech perhaps? Just examples, of course, but it would be a political cluster f*ck that I'm not sure anyone wants to touch with a 10 foot pole.
