Lower all career politicians paychecks, end the pension for only serving one term, illegalize receiving any benefits or monetary income received from companies or anonymous donors due to it clouding the judgement of the parties. Institute mandatory voting for all citizens. Institute a flat tax rate for all incomes. Institute mandatory jobs program for all receiving welfare, you now work for the government thus mandatory drug screening. Welcome to building roads, train tracks, or solar installations.(some wavers apply injury, mental disability, etc... But we will still try to find something you can do). Introduce mandatory Id cards to all citizens, to allow easy tracking to ensure voting participation. All employers must validate all payrolls with these ids to ensure legal hiring processes. Audit all higher learning centers for financial expenditures, arrest/fine those artificially raising the cost so that education becomes cheaper. Offer/mandate a service program for ages 18 to 20. You don't have to be in the mil, but you will participate in a civil service. In return heavily finance/or completely pay for higher education for those that participate. Reinstate apprenticeship programs, enforce certification standards. Some people learn better on the job than in formal education and they need a road to success as well. Slightly raise minimum wage, use surplus/gain from lowered welfare, and clear tax code to pay down debt raising value of money people do get paid. Reinstate the inheritance tax. Give incentives to in country manufacturing, raise tariffs so they can compete locally. .. I have more, but I'm probably sounding pretty nuts and rustling Jimmies with what I've already written.

  • There would be a lot of problems if you became president. I see what you are saying but I don't think you are considering the consequences for some of your policies.

  • But, if you do see difficulties please say them, discussions lead to better ideas.

  • I'm sure I would probably be shot at weekly and or impeached quickly, but we are currently on course for a major disfunction. Hopefully if I could stay in office/alive long enough for the benefits to show themselves the regulations and their long term positive benefits would become apparent.

  • There needs to be change, I agree but for example; having people on welfare build railroads would take away jobs from construction companies.

  • True, to a degree, and I have seen this argument before, but I see them as two different functions. The us currently is currently creating a welfare dependent class, to the point that multiple generations have now come to pass with all of them subsisting on welfare. That's a one way ticket to failure to most people born into those conditions. On top of that we are giving the message that you can get something for nothing (I apologize if this viewpoint seems harsh), if people are going to subsist off the government, the government needs to see a return for its investment. On top of this the pay for these services would be hopefully below the standard for construction companies (who hopefully would continue working for the public sector), people working for the mandatory jobs program would hopefully think to themselves "you know what, I've learned a lot doing this job, maybe I should go private and make more money". I do see a lessening in government contracts to construction companies, but I have to tell you that this in itself has become a form of welfare, the average production value for government contract workers is terrible for far to much money. (sorry for rambling)

  • Mandatory voting is not a good idea because you will have an excess of uneducated voters and therefore the government will suffer.

  • That was originally the thought I had, but the research I have seen on the practice actually has the opposite effect, the populace surprisingly becomes more informed since they have to take an interest. There would also be an abstain function, just in case.

  • I have noticed that,(I wish there was a subscription option because I would subscribe to your post) though you are far better at releasing meaningful post than I am any day. My last one about a robot showing self awareness got buried so fast it was ridiculous.

  • No h8, but if you do come up with anything feel free, I definitely don't need an echo chamber for these thoughts, a good debate could come up with solutions that anyone is amiable with.

Very well, the mandatory voting and ID cards would never pass. For one you can't force people to choose. Also if someone doesn't know anything about politics and chooses to abstain I'd rather they didn't vote anyway. How would you even enforce such a law. As for IDs this was already tried and abolished by the supreme court in Arizona for being unamerican.

  • My thoughts on the mandatory voting part is in line with the countries that have instated it, political parties became more moderate and the population became more informed. The average charge for not voting was about 25 dollars American. Low enough to not be true enforcement, high enough that you would chose to do it. The polls also had an abstain function, but a vast majority decided well if they have to go anyway they might as well do it right. Political parties no longer have to engage the fringe/fanatical who are guaranteed to show up to secure votes, this leads to a more majority based political system. Id cards, I too would chafe at the thought, but in a fashion we already have them. Your social security card was never meant to fulfill the function it currently has, but it is commonly used now as a second form of id and is wholly unsecure containing no certificate encryption and no photo. There is no real tracking and thus citizens are constantly having their identity stolen, instating a universal id, with encrypted hash values, voting registration and mandatory employeer registration would have multiple benefits, lessening identity theft, health record tracking, voting registration, lower illegal hiring practices, etc. I don't personally like the idea of being tracked, but every citizen is already so far on grid there are far more benefits to having a universal id than not.

  • I can see your point but try convincing people you're keeping tabs on them for their benefit. (Not exactly what you said but I'm already seeing it get spun into some horror story by your political opponents)

  • I do see the backlash to openly admitting to tracking, but hopefully everyone realizes they are already being tracked/categorized/logged already be it credit cards, phone bills, taxes, employment records, rental/lease agreements. I could hopefully spin it as a more secure version of the social security card(which in a fashion it is) that has added functions to lessen identity theft (a hot ticket item).
